Help with Heli setup

Post by jtroutt19 »

Hey guys,

So I am building a 700 heli over the next couple of months and started looking at radio setup. I currently have the 9XR-pro with ersky9x.

I cannot find alot of documentation about how to set up a FBL heli. Maybe I am searching the wrong terms. I have a lot of stuff come up for openTX.

Should I just flash to openTX? I know the instructions would still be for the taranis but at least it would be a little more similar. Any help is great!

I am also trying to get it setup in real flight. Not using software radio but rather fully using my 9XR-Pro. I am having a hard time figuring that out as well.

Try installing eepskye on your PC. Get it from www.er9x.com and then have a look at the heli template to learn how things work.
I would also update ErSky9x to the latest r221 from the same site I linked above.
Heli programming in OpenTX should be very similar to ErSky9x.

My understanding of a flybarless (FBL) heli is that all the complicated stuff is done in the heli and you just need normal AIL, ELE and RUD controls. The only complexity is handling the throttle with a suitable curve (I don't fly helis so can't help beyond that).

I didn't realize it was a flybarless.. Yes that seems to be easier. But I don't fly helis as well. :(

Ok so with flybarless the controller does all the work. That makes things alot easier. I guess I need to wait until I get my Ikon Controller and see what the instructions say for that

Dropping this query into this thread, as it's probably better than creating a new thread.

Is the latest firmware version for the Pro 220 or 221? I've just looked at the er9x site as linked above, and the page says it's 220, and 221 is mentioned above, the file itself is no help in that respect in that the version number is not embedded in the name, probably to avoid confusion when using eepe online.

Thanks
Irish Steve

If it was easy, shure, would't we all be doin it?

Steve, for Ersky9x you should use eepskye, not eepe..
You can also download the latest Ersky9x firmware through eepskye..

ersky9x is at r220.
eepe/eepskye is at 421
I am currently posting test versions for r221 of ersky9x on the test versions thread.

Thanks Mike, I have 220 already loaded in the ones here I am looking after, I was just making sure that there wasn't a new version out, that's fine.
