Turnigy 9XR pro Frsky module X8R not binding

Post by jeda007 »

Hello!

I have tried to bind my Turnigy 9XR pro With frsky module and X8R receiver, even bought one new but the same problem!

Version on the radio is:
V. 4566-Mike
SVN: ersky9X-PR219
MOD REVB-X

Protocoll is PPM

Both svitches on the module is off

Jumper between 7-8 on receiver

Holding button on sending module while startup, the radio is beeping green led on red led blinking

on the receiver is both red and green led on

How can i see if it is EU mode or not?
I have tried to flash the firs receiver to
X8R_LBT_build151118
and
X8RX6R_eu_150602

With no luck

I have run out of ideas to test, what could be wrong, have a couple of models that works?

Is the Tx module a DJT or a XJT?

Change the protocol to XJT (PXX), remove the link from the Rx, then bind using the "Bind" option in the menu.

Hi!
Changed protocoll to pxx
Removing link, did you mean the jumper between 7-8? i took the jumper away.
Started binding, led on transmitter flasched red and green solid
on the receiver flashed red

I then pushed the F/S button on the receiver on sratup, then it worked!
Is the receiver now Ch1-ch8 with telemetry?

If i want to bind two receivers how do i manage that? put a jumper between 1 and 2 ? 9-16 channels without telemetry?

Is it anyone knowing if it works to bind two receivers in this way for 16 channels?
Whats the difference with the new ones, the old one i got Before was easier to bind without changing protocoll?

If you have the XJT module and the X8R, assuming you have some form of flight controller, can you not use the SBUS port which gives you 16 channels using the XJT protocol?

Thanks, to use sbus dont you have to bind receivers? Stupid question but i havent tried sbus
But i have tried to bind two receivers to the same radio and got 16 channels, it seems to be different receivers the new ones, uppgraded model i think, i ordered the same as before! But got the new model.

By the way, many thanks for helping

When you use the sbus protocol, a single X8R receiver will give you 16 input channels. You obviously need to bind that receiver to the radio. Plus you only need 1 wire to connect the receiver to the flight controller :)
What flight controller are you using & why do you need 16 output channels?

Wacth this short video. Hopefully it will show you what you need. The radio side setup in ersky9x is very similar to the OpenTx setup shown.

God morning and a happy new year!
I started this year with some moore test, and now it works binding the the usual way described in the manual, i am a little embarased because i think this worked fine befoore to after changing protokoll according to mikes help, but i was so confused i mixed all upp!

And i watshed the video binding one receiver for 16 channels using sbus and ppm, that was a really good help and one i need for one project with a big octocopter with dji that handels sbus, the only concern is that i am not familary with sbus and i have heared there can be some trouble with dji and sbus, anybody that knows?

Binding two receivers is for one project with rctanks for me and my friend, it is supposed for much extra features.

I am really greatfull for all the help you given me!

Thans a lot

Mike.
When I choose PXX there is no such menu as bind. The line after protocol reads “1st CHAN”. FW r204. Any clue ?

Please go to www.er9x.com, download the latest firmware and update your radio.. version 204 is way too old..
On the new firmware PXX was changed to XJT, and you can use the radio menu to bid the receivers to your module. You can also set failsafe and all that..
Ersky9x got many new features and improvements. There is really no reason to continue to use 204. Actually, I don't even remember you it looked like, it was that long ago :)
Also, the user interface got much better, so it is much easier to navigate the menu system..

João, thanks for the info ! My AVR programming cable is on my way now.

By the way, if R204 is that old why they are still making radios with this firware ?

Turnigy froze the firmware they supplied when they started manufacturing and never changed it. Like about anything they do.

You don't need an AVR programming cable for the 9XR-PRO radio, you do it over USB, using an USB cable.. :o

This radio is discontinued as far as we know, so they are not making it anymore. They did change the firmware they ship in the radio a couple times.. I am not sure, but I think the latest were shipped with 212? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That makes your radio one of the oldest?? ;) :)
Please watch this video explaining how to flash your radio with Erky9x using Eepskye. You can also download Eepskye at www.er9x.com

oh God I just realized I took the AVR cable idea from a regular 9XR video, not the PRO version. My bad.

Good thing the wait is over, I can update the FW immediately 8-)
I might even try the update with a SD card instead of USB.

best wishes.

yes, you can.. Please update also the bootloader using the same firmware file.

For updating the bootloader, please turn the radio ON while holding both horizontal trims AWAY from each other. Then select update bootloader, and navigate to the firmware file you copied to the SD Card.. Then Press MENU LONG. When finished press EXIT TWICE to reboot the radio.

Ok, FW updated to r221. PXX up and running, RX bound successfully, servos responding, telemetry working !

This definitely should be warned in the manuals. I can help with that.

Thanks guys.

Good, well done :)

Updating the firmware shpuld be common sense, and people should not have to be reminded to do it :)

There aren't any manuals for Ersky9x at the moment. A user from this forum has been working on something since a while, but it is as far as I know, still not finished.
I have been working on a video manual which is also not finished, and I keep saying that I have to go back to it.. :)
To learn the basics of the firmware, the Er9x manual should help a lot, as all the basics are the same as Ersky9x

Hi,
I suppose it is extremely difficult to write a manual about something that changes so fast as Ersky9x. If there is anyway that a non heli, multirotor or telemetry user can help, please le me know, I will be glad to contribute. Maybe a wiki ?

Anyway, since with Ersky9x there are usually several ways of doing things, I think that a "Best practices" guide will help a lot. Not necessarily related with latency, but more with the capability and easy of future tuning. Does such a text exist?

Let's see if the user Daedalus66 who has been working on the Ersky9x manual since about a year or so, (and worked together with myself on the Er9x manual) says what his intentions are. Then depending on what he says, and if he doesn't want to carry on doing it, other(s) could probably pick up where he left, or even start another manual based on the already existent Er9x manual, which is really good.. Of course I would be part of the team as well. :)

I do want to finish my video manual as well, and I think it could complement the written manual..
Ersky9x does deserve a good manual. it is an excellent firmware..
Also many people don't know about some really nice features. For example, Ersky9x can interact with Eepskye to program your models in real time using the PC screen, keyboard and mouse, instead of the radio's tiny screen and buttons. And you can actually see the controls on your model move when you move the sticks in the Eepskye simulator.. :)

Can’t agree more. But I believe it’s worth mentioning that 9XR Pro won’t work out of the box with X8R and telemetry. It can save a headache for many people.
jhsa wrote: There aren't any manuals for Ersky9x at the moment.
I meant the 9XR manuals available here at this forum. Can we upload the source code to github so more people can contribute ?

Thanks

I don't even know who has the source code.. But forget those manuals, they are mow useless. It would be easier to write them from scratch now than updating them.. Ersky9x is completely different now, even the menu navigation system is different. It is not worth it to do anything with those files. :)

That was true when the 'PRO first came out, then HK contacted FrSky and they agreed the FrSky support for the XJT may be included. Later sales of the 'PRO used a more recent release (211 I think) that does support the XjT/X8R.
