Best FrSky DJT and 9XR Pro GPS Solution

Post by johnrcglider »

I am looking for a GPS solution that will work and show telemetry on my 9XR Pro with FrSky DJT Module.

Looking at all options, but mainly only need it for my Glider so need altimeter, gps, speed.

Is anything else recommended?

John

The hub GPS sensor doesn't seem to be available anymore.
One possibility is to program an Arduino Pro Mini to read SPort sensors (the FrSky SPort GPS sensor is available) and convert this to the hub protocol needed by the 'D' type receivers.
I have a project that does this, see: https://github.com/MikeBland/SportToHub.
Thread relating to the project: viewtopic.php?f=84&t=6803&p=94078&hilit ... hub#p94078.

Another possibility is to make an openXsensor, with a GPS unit attached.

I don't have an openXsensor with GPS, but I have read on this forum that it works very well, better and way more accurate than some commercial options.

Frsky has a new receiver specifically designed for gliders, the G-RX8 which Is an X series receiver with built in vario. You would need an XJT module plus the s.port GPS module.

If you need an XJT module for the radio, then it can get expensive and you might want to consider the Frsky Q7 radio which has the XJT module built in.
