Cannot set date and time

Post by sdavies »

My 9XR Pro has ersky9x-r220 V1766-Mike 4/12/2017 10:24:43 REVB.

If I navigate to the Radio Setup/Date-Time page and set the current date and time values, pressing MENU LONG does nothing and the date stays at midnight on 1/1/2000.

Open the radio. When the radio is flat on the table, sticks facing the table, and the bottom of the radio facing you, the RTC battery, which is a button type one, is mounted vertically on the right side of the mainboard.

Replace it with the same type. Watch the polarity.

Did you flash the right file for the 9XR-PRO?
You need "ersky9xr_rom.bin"

I double checked the battery direction and it is correct.
When I downloaded the current firmware with eepskye, it was called ersky9xr_rom.hex; presumably to avoid hassles with .bin files.
I renamed it to ersky9xr_rom.bin and flashed it.
The Tx Version page now reads as above (and everything else works).

My apologies. I did have the wrong firmware flashed.
The Version page now says:
V.1760-Mike
4/12/2016
10:18:39
ersky9xr-r220
REVB-X

and the date is correct.
The firmware confusion comes partly from the fact that eepskye (at least under Fedora Linux) defaults to .hex as the extension for the download.
It does this for the correct firmware as well as the other but I now find that I can over-ride that on the Save screen.

Good that is working :)
Did you get the latest eepskye from www.er9x.com?

Also, it is a good idea to update the bootloader.
Start the radio while holding both horizontal trims away from each other to enter maintenance mode. Now select "Update Bootloader". Select the latest firmware file you have just flashed. This file should be placed on the SD Card inside a folder called " firmware" .
Press menu long to confirm and wait for the progress bar to complete. Press exit long a couple times and the radio should now reboot normally..

See my other thread on eepskye source download/build.
I have previously built both eepe and eepskye from source but am having hassles with a rebuild of r422.
I'm in the process of upgrading the Fedora box that I want to use for that and will post results on that other thread.
The Linux download from er9x is pretty useless as it contains only a .deb file which in turn only contains some non-english lanhuage files.
I am using the zip download from github.
