Re: Error writing eeprom data - SOLVED

Post by martin555 »

hello dear ppl.

I checked visually, I HAVE 64A in the tx.

I use EEPE with my SWITCHES on the radio in "default off" position, so this matters?

Reading | #########avrdude.exe: error: wrong reading bytes b8

this is my problem.

I use windows 7 32 bits, this programmer ( I have 3 of them) http://www.1diycentre.com/Atmel_S51AVR_ ... Rguide.pdf

tried several USB ports on motherboard, or HUB.

eepe, companion.. drivers from http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ (do not know which one to use, the older or newer, tried both)

problem is, I can not read firmware back from the radio. the upload "works", the radio turns on seem to work, but when flashing, at the reading back-part wrong reading bytes.

I can use small foam planes (I can manage modell memoryes with eepe) but I do want to know why flashing reading back does not work.

do I have a wiring error when my 9x got modified?

or processor, mainboard, eeprom physical fault?

thx pls help

Reading | ##avrdude.exe: error: usbasp_transmit: usb_control_msg: sending control message failed, win error:(rough translation by me:)
the i/O process got interrupted ( a process ended, or an application aborted the process)

this is when I try to read FW with EEPE.

martin you should start a new thread and you will get more help. This is an old thread already marked as Solved.

I'm not even sure your hardware has usbasp firmware on it. I do believe I read a thread where you can flash usbasp firmware on it.

Do you have a schematic of the unit you have. ? Put that information in your new thread that you create

thank you, .sorry for talking into an older post.. my problem SOLVED.. in my great mysery I went to a friend who has notebook with GOOD OLDE WINDOWS XP (32 bits) AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM (firmware flashing) so you could figure how I felt for windows 7 . maybe changing eepe to XP compatibility mode but I did not tried it under win7.

pls feel free to delete my posts if needed.

I hate to bump and old post, but I just have to say a big thanks to Greebo for their efforts. I spent several hours yesterday trying to work out why I couldn't read or write the eeprom. With your modifications to the ArduinoISP sketch, I have now successfully read and written the eeprom several times over. You have saved me hours, if not days of headaches. A big thanks.

Hy
i bought spare 9xr Main board with power and futaba connection from HK..i did (i think..) correctly the connections between the rf module and the atmega 128 and between the two connections and the existing resistors for telemetry...hokeed up all together..NEVER flashed becouse i'm waiting to receive the usb isp arduino tool. I turned on the radio and it gave to me BAD EEPROM DATA PRESS ANY KEY and i did but nothen happened.
is ok or i did something wrong?

Doctorhelo, you will get more responses if you start a new thread. This one is hole , been rehashed, hijacked and resurected :)

Yes it is normal for the EEPROM DATA PRESS ANY KEY message to popup the FIRST time you turn on a 9xr. The software formats the eeprom so that it can be used to save model and configuration data.

For more than one year I had this problem: everything has written correctly into Tx (my Turnigy9X), but at the end, see that stupid BAD EEPROM DATA message. The only "solution" was write backup back to the Tx, and forget all programming on OpenTX. All changes then, I made by hand on Tx. When changes has been done, connect Tx to OpenTx, and make new backup to PC (both bin and hex versions).
Then, a month ago, I made all backups (again, as only safe action :)) and DOWNLOADED APPROPRIATE FIRWMARE ! This is according checked options in "General Settings". Mentioned firwmare you can download from "File -> Download" menu, and click on button "Download FW". So, when downloaded (and saved on PC as hex file), I did "Write Firmware to Radio" !!!
When this finished, I DO NOT GET ANY "Bad eeprom data" message whenever I change anything and execute "Write Models And Settings to Radio".

Try this ! This downloading and writing approprate firmware to radio, has solved problem to my Radio and OpenTX !

BUT FIRST OF ALL : MAKE BACKUP ALL THE TIME BEFORE do anything on radio !!!!

Thanks Greebo, your ArduinoISP mod solved it. Glad I found this old topic. BTW, this is my first post here.
