What is OP7?

Post by lancaster »

Hi Mike/Joa
Hope you are well - I have a quick question

I'm using the Extreme Board on the Turnigy 9X with ersky9x-r218, v 3531-Mike

I am using an old model mix for elevator /throttle trim - relevant lines shown as follows:-

CH2 source Ele wt 100
source CH7 wt 50 switch ID-
CH3 source Thr wt 100
CH7 source Thr wt 100 offset 100
source P3 wt -100 multiply

When loaded into the TX this converts CH7 to OP7 in line 2

CH2 source Ele wt 100
source OP7 wt 50 switch ID-
CH3 source Thr wt 100
CH7 source Thr wt 100 offset 100
source P3 wt -100 multiply

The mix works fine but what is OP7?

regards
Hans

Hans, please check the er9x manual for a better explanation.
But basically OP7 is the real output of the channel. This is activated by selecting the "use output" box when editing a mix. This box appears when you select another mix channel as source to the mix being edited.
When you select a channel with this option un-selected as source to another mix, it will use the output from the mixer only. That means, no limits or safety switches are taken in consideration. When the "Use Output" option is selected, the real output of the channel will be routed to the mix input, including the limits setting and safety switches. The name of the source than change from for example CH7 to OP7, meaning the real output of channel 7. I think the diagram on the manual also shows this. also attached below.. This is a really cool feature.
For example, before if you wanted to enable a mix depending on the throttle, that mix would be active whether the throttle cut switch was ON or not. This allows you to keep the mix OFF if the throttle is protected, and it will only enable the mix when the throttle is active. It will also the real output values of the channel. For example if you use CH7, and the weight of CH7 is 100%, this value will be used on the mix no matter the values sett on the limits menu. If OP7 is selected, then the limits are included and the value is the real channel output.. It seems I have repeated myself here :)
Please see the diagram that shows the processing order in Er9x and ErSky9x.

HI Joao
Thanks for the super quick response and great explanation - I should have read the manual a little more carefully!
It makes sense now and I will give it some thought and practise

I'm still having a great time with the 9Xtreme and I'm glad to see you are still always present on the forum
Thanks for the help
kind regards
Hans
