Re: End cap for FM antenna
Here.. :) It may work? I bought a small can of black paint for vinyl and plastic at an auto parts store when I built my last computer and needed the DVD drive to become black. It worked great and took very little time or paint. Just thinking, could this paint be used to turn a white cap into a blac...

Er9x Hub Displays
Did a full Frsky telemetry, Frsky, SP prog board, controls led backlight, spesker and haptic build. Took a while to do it but it all works. Question for Mike regarding the Hub telemetry data displayed. Does er9x display data from all the hub on the display screens somewhere? I see A1, A2, one temp a...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
SM: 1N4001 should be fine. Rob: This is to use a different supply voltage for the haptic drive, so needs the extra diode. Mike. Yes/OK to everything. I asked also because of the er9x haptic mod being for the most part external. I just realized I'm pulling 300Ma from that 78L05 regulator so I'd bett...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
Re 1n4005 diode shown in haptic options. I have many 1n4001's and their peak reverse voltage is 50v where the 05 is 600. Should I buy some 1n4005's? I used a 1n4001 on the er9x haptic mod never giving a thought?

Re: FRSKy Mod - Using Mikes Guide
FYI FlySky /Frsky module interchangeability concern. If you want to reuse the Turnigy or FlySky original module you'll have to do the same pin isolation on the stock modules after you do the txd rxd mods to the TX per Mike's great circuit mod. The pin we use on the modified DJT for RXD out, TXD into...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
Ok on all my answered questions. Now we all know more, thanks. Yes as far as the tx battery voltage used and the disapated heat due to regulating higher battery voltage. Same for the max current draw. I figured out up front that if another voltage source was used for the haptic device more current c...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
Ok another haptic question(s). What is the max safe current that can be drawn? I never gave it much thought but I know the transistor and 3.3v regulator will have to supply the current. I see a resistor in circuit that may limit the max current but what about taxing the 3.3 volt regulator? I hate to...

Haptic fixed! Sorry for the Alarm" that it wasn't working. I forgot to go to the radio setup screen #2 and turn the haptic strength value up from 0 to 5. I'm good, it's good. Another question for later. with all the ram and cpu headroom is there a max model memory greater than the 16 we're used...

I just installed the latest update, r51 with the haptic option added and reconnected my haptic device. The motor no longer runs so I know it’s all talking to the update. I see the haptic options in the radio menu. My questions, It there a way to force the haptic feature to work without using a recei...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
HobbyKing White Backlight Info ersky9x follow up. I checked my original notes that used a 5.0v source for the HK BL and the total drop with my meter across the black and red with 150 ohms (internal 50+150 external=200ohms) was 2.74v or 1.37 v/led. This is close enough for selecting your own external...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
Re HK BL resistor. For my white LEDs I did measure it all when I installed it but my notes are at home and I wanted to get this posted ASAP. I'll open up my tx and measure the min and max tonight. Using the new tx super voltage and current display I show 114 ma BL off and 124 Ma with the BL on. If w...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
My "current" Hobbyking backlight solution. I did some quick math to add a resistor in the BL red lead. My board has the 2 100 ohms in parallel so I end up with 50 ohms. Using a led drop of 1.3v for white leds x 2 =2.6v. Take that from 5 volts max available and that leaves 5-2.6=2.4v to dr...

Thanks Mike, this info is what I hoped was current. If you or SkyNorth could comment, Now that the CPU temp can be read is there a value to be concerned about? Re: ERSKY9x Questions
I believe with r44 the trainer function may work now? I'll give it a try today on the bench. Just trying to do some beta testing as much as I can as the FW evolves. Re: Replacement 9x module?
FlySky module caution Some things worth mentioning. First I opened one of my two FlySky modules with antennas attached to map pin outs and found that the coax shield solder joint at the module was no longer soldered, cold joint hanging free. I think. It's worthwhile to open your module and double c...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions
I finished all the mods tonight and just loaded r44 and I'm enjoying the new audio alarms. The current measurement is pretty neat. I read that the haptic code has not been added yet. I did wire it all up and it does send some voltage full time to the connector so I disconnected it for now and will w...

Re: TH9X/TH9X-B Questions
Any version will work for you that you can find in stock as long as it's the 9x model. The Smartieparts programmer work with either version board but requires a little mod for the older board. The solder in option programmer works for all version if you can solder OK. The best option is to throw awa...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
Backlight info. just to be clear about the HK white in my case. The hk bl when powered off of the 9.9volt battery as intended with a 470 ohm resistor supplied draws around 15Ma as I remember and is bright. The leds I believe are in series and require 3 volts at 20 Ma max to drive them. The new board...

Throtle stick warning fixes! Mike you nailed it! I hadn't set it to mode 2 stick config that is also option 2 in the menu. If you know, does Sam-Ba have config options like eepe does? Re: How to power a dvm with the source voltage it's reading?
Take your normal voltmeter and connect it between the +13V(Solar rail) and the + on the 9V battery. If you are only getting like 4 volts then it will probably work. Also check that the grounds are connected with your meter. Just hook one lead on the meter - and the other to the solar -. You should ...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
I just added a picture of the back of the PCB, not sure where to cut. Just to be clear. Unlike the RS232 to TTL converter needed for the er9x telemetry mod, the Frsky module modded the same way just goes to the ersky9x com1 port since it's all rs232 now? Frsky is RS232 already, right? I'm glad I re...
