Another way of getting the MS board into the bootloader:
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 180#p51883
This works with the bootloader that was being loaded. The very recent bootloader/application seem much more reliable.

Re: Changing to an Atmega 128
After changing to a Mega128, a number of people have reported reboots happeniong when using the horizontal trims.
See http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=3594 for a solution to this problem.

You just need:
ch6 +100% 3POS
no switches, it gives you the three outputs -100, 0 and +100 for the three positions of the 3 position switch.

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims
I understand now why it is only the horizontal trims causing the problem. It is poor design to use the analogue ground for a digital signal. The 'best' solution would be to provide a proper digital ground to the switches, but the resistors are easier to do, and seem to sort the problem. Can you conf...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims
I've just taken the board you modified out and inspected it (Reference to edited post, picture no longer in the post). What I think you have in fact done is to cut a track that is joining ground to the sticks and added the 820 Ohm resistor across that. There is a ground plane on the other side of th...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims
NOT replacing the existing resistors, they are AFTER the de-bounce capacitor. Adding a resistor in the wire from the trim switches will drastically reduce any spike caused when switching. Not having a resistor is, in my opinion, poor design. Flaps: Since you have a Tx with the problem, perhaps you a...

Typical characteristics, find the graph of power for "Active Supply Current vs. Frequency (1 - 16 MHz)".mbanzi wrote:Mike, which value are you looking at in the datasheet? I'm trying to determine the m2561's consumption, as I also had the trim issue.
Looks like 20mA for the '2561.

If you hae a terminal program, you can try connecting at 38400 baud. Then type the digit 0 followed by the SPACE character. The first time, nothing may be returned, but if you repeat it you should get some control characters back. I do using hyperterminal. The first attempt is seen by the applicatio...

It looks to me as though the eepe command is missing a -P in front of /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART.
Where in the eepe config did you enter /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART?

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU
It's possible. The fact it seems to be related to switching the horizontal trims, not holding them, suggests suggested the above to me. It may be the tracking or wiring to the trim switches that helps cause such a problem. Every switch has a 0.1 uF capacitor across it, so when the switch is activate...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU
Just checking the datasheets of the M128 and the M64. The M128 is shown as typically taking 40mA to the M64s 16mA. Along with everything else, this could mean that the 5V regulator is running closer to its 100mA limit. Maybe, switching certain trim switches then put spikes on the power and/or ground...

Re: Voice (Megasound) Serial Update
On your Tx, advance the throttle, or change a switch so you will get a switch error or a throttle error. (This prevents the programming operation changing the throttle trim that would happen if you have wired the second serial port of the M128 to the MS board). Switch the Tx on. OK, Run eepe, select...

Yes, the 10W halogen bulb didn't last very long, it's very small and got very hot. As there is so much space between the objective and the uint you want to work on, I can easily use an ordinary 'angle-poise' desk lamp to give enough light. I intend to hook up some LEDs in the light housing when I ge...

Re: Convert Receiver channels to PPM with arduino
It may be the voltage from the D4R-II does not go high enough. You could try adding a diode (1N4001) in the GROUND conection between the d4R-II and the radio, anode to D4R-II, cathode to ground on the radio. This would move the output from the D4R-II up by around 0.6 volts, so a logic '0' would be 0...

Re: Stereo microscope for electronics
With the long arm version yo really do have plenty of space to work in. There is 4.5 inches from the bottom of the objective to the bench, and it focuses over a wide range of distances. No trouble getting the iron in there. 20x magnification is plenty, but you still get a good view area as well. Mike.
