Just for information: I have tested the radio with mainboard powered from the voltage regulator on the audio board. It works fine! I see no additional jitter on any of the channels (including sticks). Tested by monitoring hex values (5th screen in the radio setup menu).

Mmm... I just swapped the 10K resistor with a 3K9. Same thing...
When BL is ON, the VDD is ~3.3V. When an audio file is played back, the VDD drops to just under 1.5V. When the radio is not in use and BL is off, the VDD still stays at around 1.5V.
Is this an expected behavior?

Guys, The ATmega was to blame. I put the chip from the working board to the non-working one, and it came back to life immediately!
