Re: XJT beeping

My CP2102 looks like this: http://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/g/fSIAAOSwZG9WjLkL/s-l200.jpg It has a minimalistic design - the chip itself, a couple of caps and 4 resistors. That's basically it... The reason I bought an FTDI is that I couldn't find a way to invert this CP2102. I remember my first FT...

Re: XJT beeping

No luck so far... I borrowed a D8R (just to be sure). It bound to my XJT set to D8 mode by the DIP switches (radio is set to PPM). I can control a servo connected to the receiver. So this part is certainly Ok. But I still cannot get it to talk via RS232. I suspect it could be because of the inversio...

Re: XJT beeping

Mike, Which RS232 adapter did you use? I did it in a similar way as you described, but omitting the BIND and the servo part. I don't have a D-series rx, so I didn't test XJT was actually in D8 mode. But the DIP switches were set exactly as you described (ON-OFF), and the protocol in the radio was se...

Re: XJT beeping

I have the Arduino-based STK, FTDI and a CP2102. I just tried both the FTDI and the CP2102. But I got no success with neither of them. I also tried another XJT, but still no luck. I must be doing something wrong... :( Hmmm... Can I maybe type in some commands via a terminal program (i.e. Putty), jus...

Re: XJT beeping

Mike, Do you know if I can power XJT via its RS232 connector? There are the Rx, Tx, Vcc and GND. And when I apply 5v from USB, the module powers up and starts to beep just as if it was powered from the radio. So I suspect this should have worked... Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I was unable ...

Re: XJT beeping

Oh! I forgot to mention that other than the beeping, the module seem to work Ok. It binds to receivers, shows pretty good SWR (about 2 to 16, depending on antenna position) and does its job quite fine (at least I didn't see any issues so far).

It's just this beeping that worries me...

[FIXED!] XJT beeping

Hi, I was given a strange XJT that always beeps whenever power is applied. Even if the model is not powered on, and even without PPM / PXX stream coming, it still does its beep-beep-beep-beep... I guess it's either some internal alarm (though, I'm not sure what it can be if it beeps even without the...

Re: S.Port output on a Q X7 radio?

Kilrah,
Am I correct assuming the next RC of OpenTX 2.2 will have the S.Port connector +5v power enabled by-default? If so, do you know when the next RC is expected?

Re: S.Port output on a Q X7 radio?

Confirmed! There is a brief 5.0v when trying to flash an external device. But it's really brief - I'd say less than a second. So if OpenTX will have this port switched ON by default, the algorithm of flashing an external device should be updated. The flasher should wait at least several seconds for ...

Didn't Mike already confirm it should be 5v?

I am ready to measure it if you tell me how to do it.

As I said, so far flashing of SPort devices didn't work for me in OpenTX on the X7.

Re: S.Port output on a Q X7 radio?

Hmm... Ok!
There are pins soldered to the SPort connector on the radio I was asked to look into. I suspect the pinout is already correct there. I measured the GND and SPort pins and they seem to be the same as in the ext. module bay.

Re: S.Port output on a Q X7 radio?

The switched power should be 5V on the bottom SPort connector. I believe, by default, the power is switched off, and only switched on when doing SPort device updates. Mike, that's great to know! Thanks! I guess the best solution would be to have an option to switch the bottom port between Always On...

Re: S.Port output on a Q X7 radio?

Thanks for the hint! Do you know whether this port on the bottom is controlled separately from the external module? I guess it is, as even with the external module enabled there's still no power on the bottom SPort connector. But then the firmware flasher should have three options (internal module, ...

S.Port output on a Q X7 radio?

Hi All, In the new Taranis Q X7 there's an S.Port connector in the bottom of the radio. The manual just says it's for 'future use', so it isn't clear whether it is operational or not... I was asked to connect an FSD (FrSky S.Port Dashboard) to the Q X7. I thought I will just use this port at the bot...

Two FLVSS sensors on the same model?

Hi All, I think I read something about it, but now I can't find it... I was asked for help to connect two FLVSS (FrSky's voltage sensors) on the same model. It's a multicopter with two independent batteries (one is a 6S LiPo, I'm not yet sure about the other one). I understand I need to change the S...

Re: FrSky M9 gimbals in a 9x - photos (traffic!)

Hi Carl,
Thank you for the kind words!
Unfortunately, I don't have an X9E. So I can't say whether these gimbals will fit. Judging by how FrSky positions the M9, I believe there should be another model that fits X9E without the need for modification.

Re: FrSky M9 gimbals in a 9x - photos (traffic!)

Well done! :) Regarding the throw. I tested several gimbals (FlySky / Turnigy, FrSky PR10 and the M9). It appears that the stock FlySky gimbals have the largest throw (just a little bit over FrSky PR10), while FrSky M9 has the shortest. But I don't feel that to be an issue, at least my fingers had n...

The buttons themselves are soldered to the the board. Temporarily save telemetry value (while in flight)?

Re: Ever imagined desktop of 9xr pro of this sort

Hi All,

I would keep a vertical line (or at least something) to indicate a physical centre of the trim line. Then the actual trim position indicator doesn't have to show the side our trim is off centre. This will allow to estimate HOW FAR it is off centre, which is useful sometimes.
