ERSKY9X Coding

Many thanks Mike for this very helpful change. It solves a very specific problem that I’ve never encountered before, that of setting a pulse width for Safety Switch override accurate to 1uS to meet the needs of a particular flight controller. Unless someone can identify other cases where such accura...

What Rx should I get?

I would not suggest an FrSky receiver in your situation. The AR636 is a stabilized receiver. Depending on your flying skills, you probably want a stabilized receiver to replace it. You could go for the S6R, but it’s fairly complex to set up. Your least expensive but very good solution is a LemonRX S...

Receiver number issue binding S6R

I have a very early Taranis A01, one of the first batch sold by Aloft, and ran into the mysterious receiver number issue. It wasn’t until I found a 2016 post by MikeB that I realized why I couldn’t get either an S6R or an S8R to bind with it, even though they bind fine with my QX7. I tried receiver ...

Can I get a hand over here?

First thing to do is always to go to the monitor screen and see what the transmitter is putting out. This allows you to determine whether the problem is with the transmitter or somewhere else. While you’re at it, make sure that elevator stick action is not the issue. But from the description it does...

“Haven’t got any mixes.”
With ER9X, etc., you’ve always got mixes. They are what’s found on the Mixer page. Without mixes, nothing happens.
You’re thinking about traditional radios, where “mixes” are something optional that you use to do things like couple the rudder to aileron action.

Sorry, but I’ve seen numerous examples of posts about the “9XR” which in fact related to the 9XR Pro. It’s a fairly common mistake.

"Smart" Throttle Cut?

Here’s a discussion of throttle cut, sticky and not.

http://www.rcadev.info

There doesn’t seem to be any one-step way to get sticky.

Note: previous link didn’t work. This one gets you to the site; the throttle cut stuff is in OpenTX item 03.

As you have discovered, the Special Functions Override does a similar job to ErSky9x Safety Switch. Here’s what it looks like (except I can’t do a down arrow with my iPad): SF1 SFdn Overrride CH1 -100 The first column is Special Function number (1 to 64), second is the switch used to apply it, third...

Every channel must have a mix if it is to do anything. Otherwise it just remains at neutral, unable to move a servo or drive a speed control. The mix may have just one input (like the Aileron stick) or several, but there has to be a mix for each active channel. One channel can drive two or more serv...

Taranis default channel order

The Channel Order selection simply sets the default order for new models. You can then move them around if you need to. The result will be sent to the RF module as you see it on the Mixer page. The RF module may then manipulate the order. For example, Multiprotocol, as used in the 4in1 modules and i...

Taranis default channel order

It’s exactly what it says it is — the default order. Do you want the order to be picked at random when you create a new model? [emoji3] Sorry. Of course you’re right that you can choose to use any order with FrSky, but the OpenTX firmware serves on a variety of transmitters, including the Taranis, 9...

Keep breaking XJT modules

Plugging or unplugging the module with power on can destroy it. So if your module is rattling around and breaking contact occasionally, I would assume that that’s the cause of your module failures.

MAAC has just concluded arrangements with DOT to facilitate approval in Canada in parallel with FCC certification. This should make it much easier for manufacturers. I don’t have any further details yet.

Building a FPV quad - rx question

First, understand your transmitter. No need to guess. Nothing is secret. Read one of the three excellent manuals on the QX7: http://www.openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=10576 Second, decide on the kinds of machine you want to fly and read up on them. Read about flight controllers and ...

Receiver Transmitter Advice for Newbie

1. The transmitter can handle up to 16 channels (or more). 2. FrSky makes a wide variety of receivers, including the XSR, X4R, X6R, and X8R, all of which provide telemetry. The motors on a quad are not controlled directly via PWM from the receiver, but by a flight controller. Normally, six or more c...

But it does go to solid blue on start up? That’s the key question. Does the Graphic channels screen show the channel 6 bar going from full left to full right when you press the Switch? That setup won’t work with the Nano QX. The Nano QX does not use channel 5 at all. It requires that channel 6 be on a momentary switch with -100% for OFF and 100% for ON. If you are using reasonably recent firmware, you should be able to simply select the TRN switch as the source for channel 6 and s...

You will also see PPM or CPPM mentioned in connection with the link between certain receivers and flight controllers. In that case, the conversion to separate PWM signals is done by the FC. The best way to understand the difference is to realize that PPM consists of a frame of pulses, one per channe...

DSM2 module for Taranis X7

PPM (pulse position modulation) is the oldest and most basic protocol for communication between the encode portion of a transmitter and the RF part. It’s been in use for 50 years or more in one form or another. Most commonly it provides 8 channels. Most modules can use PPM input, but serial is becom...

I’m guessing you’re trying to install OpenTX on a 9x transmitter. Why then do you mention Taranis, given the subject of the thread? Reading again I think you’re just in the wrong place. I think you’re asking how to upgrade from OpenTX 2.1.9 to 2.2.1. But you only have a 9x radio. I don’t think it ca...

My ErSky9x transmitters show channel outputs in uSec on the limits page and in % on the main display (numerical values). I think you’ve already got what you’re asking for.

Edit: I checked and this feature was included from late 2013, so should be there in all subsequent versions.
