Re: Taranis Gimals in a 9X
Based on my experience (and on experience of my colleagues who ordered Taranis sticks from t9hobbysport), all spare sticks now come without amplifiers. So they are a little easier to connect (no need to worry about the polarity, although if one doesn't want to change stick direction in firmware, the...

Re: [Solved] Voice Mod -AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to d
I just measured the battery current. I have connected a 2S LiPo via my multimeter. The radio showed 6.0V battery voltage (the real battery voltage was 7.7V, so the delta was 'eaten' by the multimeter). I have a stock 9x board with Atmega 2561 installed, telemetry mod and horizontal trim fix implemen...

Re: Taranis Gimals in a 9X
LTMNO, why do you want to know whether your pots have amps? Do you plan to install them to a 9x? What are you going to do with the rest of your Taranis then? :) P.S. I think you will have to open the cover of a pot to find out if there is an amp inside. Both versions look the same (or at least very ...

Re: [Solved] Voice Mod -AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to d
Just for information: I have tested the radio with mainboard powered from the voltage regulator on the audio board. It works fine! I see no additional jitter on any of the channels (including sticks). Tested by monitoring hex values (5th screen in the radio setup menu).

Ah, I see it now...
I don't quite understand the whole logic behind defining the range... and why it needs to be set to 13.2...
I think I need to read the wiki before asking such questions.
Thanks a lot!!!

Re: XJT module and 9x
Yes, moving the wire to PE0 (MOSI) fixed it! I get TSSI and RSSI values now.
Mike, you're great!!!
Is there anything else X8R could provide without external sensors? A1 and A2 voltages are both zero.

Re: XJT module and 9x
Hugh, I think I soldered it to the pin going to PE1 (marked as MISO) instead of PE0. I searched the forum, checked, and rechecked it again a number of times yesterday. After all, somehow I decided it must go to PE1 (don't ask me why, I have no idea!)... Looks like I was wrong... :-( I will resolder ...

Re: XJT module and 9x
Mike, Is there a specific ER9X configuration needed in order to receive S.PORT telemetry data? I just got my XJT module hooked up via an inverting circuit (as on the picture above). I have set the protocol to PXX. I have also bound the XJT to an X8R receiver in '16D' mode. In 'telemetry protocol' se...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight
Reading the SD card may be the problem some of the cheaper cards may draw to much current while reading or writing. It may be worth trying another card to see if that helps. This is probably a good point. But the old Atmega provided 1.5V when the BL was supposed to be OFF (even without SD card plug...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight
Hmm... Replacing Atmega helped! Now the BL works correctly even with a 150 Ohms resistor (actually, it should work without a resistor at all, but that's a bit dangerous in case if the wire going to BL gets shorted to ground). It is the THIRD Atmega I have to put on this board... Hope it will work fi...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight
Just checked my transmitter and it works as it should. The backlight stays on when a voice file is being played. Thanks a lot! I wouldn't expect the VDD to change at all when an audio file is being played back. It sounds like the current draw may be too high when a file is being played back, that i...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight
A toggle switch I can turn it on and off I made the same thing when I just got the BL (btw, I installed the switch to the power supply connector hole - it fits quite nicely there!). But then I realized that switching it on and off automatically (by firmware) is so much more convenient! After all, t...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight
Mmm... I just swapped the 10K resistor with a 3K9. Same thing...
When BL is ON, the VDD is ~3.3V. When an audio file is played back, the VDD drops to just under 1.5V. When the radio is not in use and BL is off, the VDD still stays at around 1.5V.
Is this an expected behavior?

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight
Hugh... At first, I used 150 Ohms resistor, and the BL stayed permanently ON. It got dim, sometimes flashed, but didn't switch off completely. So I changed the resistor to 10K and all became good. But then I noticed another issue: whenever my radio is 'talking', the backlight switches off, and then ...

Re: Voice Mod - AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to debug!
Guys, The ATmega was to blame. I put the chip from the working board to the non-working one, and it came back to life immediately! I then went through the entire procedure of setting the fuses and flashing the SW again, just to make sure it will still work afterwards. It did! Everything is fine! Tha...

Re: Voice Mod - AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to debug!

Re: Voice Mod - AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to debug!
Hmm, still no luck... Looks like the board is very unstable (or just lazy to work properly). Usually when I power it up, it doesn't output anything to serial port, not even an echo of my keypresses (no matter how long I wait). But at the same time it accepts new software and could be programmed just...

Re: Voice Mod - AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to debug!
Schematic is very similar (although not fully identical) between all the versions described in Wiki. There are some people who made Oliver's board before, and they use it happily. So it makes me think I may have done something wrong. But the board itself is produced by OSH Park (so it's good), and t...

Re: Voice Mod - AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to debug!
What chip are you using? Atmega 328? I'm asking because I think you flashed the firmware for the atmega168. I've been told there is only one "test" version, and it's good for Atmega 328. I think I saw some success reports with that FW (although now I am not 100% sure whether these were ac...

[Solved] Voice Mod -AudioMega by Oliver - pls. help to debug
Dear All, I just put together an AudioMega board by Oliver (v102) and I need some help to debug it. I followed the Wiki and, as far as I could judge, the assembly went fine. But the board didn't work at all on the bench with the test firmware: there is no sound, and BL LED never lights up. Here are ...
