Re: FrSky DHT and HiTec - adding Buddy Box Support

Sounds like you have a good grasp on the issue. I have an old Flash4X converted to 2.4 with a FlyDream module, but I haven't studied the trainer setup.
I think your last idea is the better one, as long as the Flash has enough memory slots for a single transmitter to meet your needs.

FrSky DHT and HiTec - adding Buddy Box Support

The conventional trainer setup works as follows. The buddy box doesn't have an RF module (or if it does, the module is turned off). Only the master transmitter (in the instructor's hands) transmits to the model. The trainer switch is a momentary one on the Master transmitter and transfers control to...

binding problem

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. I have sympathy with your difficulties trying to penetrate the open firmware world.
The 9XR Pro with ERSky9x is a wonderfully capable radio for a very low price, but frankly, if all you want to do is enjoy flying the Cub, a used DX5e will do the job with no fuss.

Yes. At this point all the attention should be on verifying that your module works. Radios you could use to test it include older module type JR such as 783 or 9330, Turnigy 9X, Taranis, or 9XR. Or if you can find another DSM module (not necessarily of the same type) to plug into your radio it would...

I agree with João's points, but suggest that for now you make a new basic Model 2 with nothing but the default mixes (TAER on channels 1-4). That will allow you to focus on the real issue and not get into a whole lot of other matters that are irrelevant until you get the module working. Plenty of ti...

Sorry about "fuss". Was only intended to mean keep your eye on the key issue, binding. You know the module WAS working, but you need to verify that it still is when plugged into the 9XR Pro. That's why I suggest taking your transmitter to someone who has a standard Spektrum receiver (bind plug type)...

The meaning of the screen is explained in the ER9X manual, to which João and I have already referred you to several times. Most of what you are fussing about has nothing to do with the fundamental issue of binding the receiver to the module. Mike makes a good point about channel order, as having the...

Please at least follow the steps I outlined in detail last night. Several of us have invested quite a bit of time in your problem and the only compensation is seeing a successful outcome. Yep, did all that. I updated the firmware to 221, internal and external module selection now appears, I set it to external. I filed down the case so that the d9 module fits correctly. I've followed all the instructions and troubleshooting for binding. I called horizon tech support, said they can't ...

Orange Module running MULTI protocol

A few points about the history of the Orange module. 1. The first generation lasted about two years, starting in late 2012. The first batch had a firmware problem that affected channel 2, but this was fixed in days. HK sent out replacements in a couple of weeks (without asking for the faulty one bac...

The DM9 should work fine with the UMX J3. I say again, read the instructions on binding that come with the model and you will see that has no need for a bind plug. It is possible that you got a defective receiver, but not likely. Are you following the directions exactly: "1. Refer to your transmitte...

Re: binding problem

1. The pins are unlikely to be "excessively long". The problem occurs if they are not long enough. 2. Do NOT mess with protocols other than PPM. DSM2 is only for use with a module hacked from a Spektrum DX5e, etc. Multi and other protocols are for different modules. PPM is what is required by the DM...

Re: binding problem

Let's try to take things one at a time. 1. Fitting the module. You will need to remove some material from either the base of the antenna tower or the back of the transmitter. You must ensure that the module fits properly and clicks into place. My transmitter pins only just make contact in the module...

Nearly everything in the ER9X manual applies to the 9XR Pro. ERSky9x is basically an enhanced version of ER9X. The manual that João and I prepared, however, is based on the new, more logical Menu structure that was introduced with version R215. You might want to consider upgrading to the latest stab...

binding problem

The issue, if any, is with the module, not the radio. The Pro firmware has no problems of this sort with a DM9 module. Are you sure you are using correct bind procedure? Is Protocol set to PPM? Are you sure the receiver and module are in bind mode? Are you keeping the transmitter 2-3 m away from the...

It tells you the settings in the radio that resulted from the most recent calibration. Calibration itself is done on the radio.

help needed programimg DSMX SAFE RX 3 diffrent modes

SAFE Beginner mode is programmed to climb at full throttle, fly level at mid throttle and glide at low throttle. It also limits bank and pitch to about 30 degrees and self-levels when the sticks are released. As well, it automatically mixes aileron and rudder. That's why it's called Beginner Mode. I...

Re: 9xr and e-flite apprentice safe rx

That's correct. I have one of the Orange v1.2 modules flashed to Multiprotocol and it works well with all the receivers I have tested, including those in UMX models. Range is very good.

Re: 9xr and e-flite apprentice safe rx

I was wrong. The problem is a well known one with the Orange module, which is not properly compatible with the UMX receivers. I was never able to resolve it and went instead to a Spektrum module hacked from an old DX5e. That did the trick. The Orange module is fine with most stand-alone receivers, b...

Re: 9xr and e-flite apprentice safe rx

That's not a transmitter problem, it has to do with the ESC and/or motor and/or battery. Start with the battery, as it sounds like the motor is heading for full speed when the current draw reaches a critical level and the ESC cuts out.

Note that most of those range results are with various relatively short range receivers used in little helis. They have no necessary relationship to the range to be achieved with a full sensitivity receiver, as used for larger fixed wing models and multirotors. I don't know about results with other ...

Re: Help troubleshooting "loss of signal" (and crash)

This doesn't sound like signal loss at all. It seems much more likely to be intermittent power loss in the model or even a transmitter intermittent failure. These of course are failures of the RF link but not what we think of as signal loss usually. My point is not to jump to conclusions but analyze...

Re: how may I change the default switch position to be -100 low on a taranis x7 to emulate a DX5e SAFE BNF RX

Just be sure to set all channel limits to 80% when dealing with a model intended for use with a Spektrum transmitter. In OpenTX, 100% travel is equivalent to 125% in a Spektrum transmitter. Not only will the servos overtravel if the Taranis is set to 100% limits, but in some cases the SAFE system re...
