9XR pro module choices

Note that most of those range results are with various relatively short range receivers used in little helis. They have no necessary relationship to the range to be achieved with a full sensitivity receiver, as used for larger fixed wing models and multirotors. I don't know about results with other ...

Re: Help troubleshooting "loss of signal" (and crash)

This doesn't sound like signal loss at all. It seems much more likely to be intermittent power loss in the model or even a transmitter intermittent failure. These of course are failures of the RF link but not what we think of as signal loss usually. My point is not to jump to conclusions but analyze...

Re: how may I change the default switch position to be -100 low on a taranis x7 to emulate a DX5e SAFE BNF RX

Just be sure to set all channel limits to 80% when dealing with a model intended for use with a Spektrum transmitter. In OpenTX, 100% travel is equivalent to 125% in a Spektrum transmitter. Not only will the servos overtravel if the Taranis is set to 100% limits, but in some cases the SAFE system re...

Which three switches? As Mike says, Bootloader mode is entered by holding the rudder and aileron trim levers towards the middle of the transmitter while turning on the Tx.

Re: Looking for apprentice 15e model setup

Generic version: Set channel order to TAER. Create new model. Set channel 5 to suitable three-channel switch (-100/0/100) for mode select. Set channel 6 to the momentary switch (for panic button). Set limits on channels 1-6 to 80%. Reverse channels 2 and 4. You may also need to reverse Channel 6, bu...

Have you tried swapping the channels of the tail servos. This is the standard last ditch remedy when seeking to get things working in the right directions.

Servo travel is normally limited to about 45 - 50 degrees each way at the absolute maximum. Servos do not normally allow anywhere near 90 degrees without modification.

Re: Template does not setup mixes using TAER order?

That's my understanding. The Multi module by default requires AETR input channel order for all protocols but produces TAER output when set to DSMX/DSM2. This is convenient if you use several different protocols -- as long as you realize what's happening!

The date is that of the original creation of the file. It is not changed when the file is written to, which of course happens every time any setting is changed.

Re: Bin files in Taranis (bootloader startup)

Those are the key files on the transmitter. DON'T TOUCH THEM.

One is the operating system (firmware) and the other is the storage file where models are created.

Re: Code for Gear Switch

To assign a two position switch to channel 5, the mix you have there is one way to do it. The other way would be to use the switch as the source. That would look like CH5 100 sGEA Leave the "switch" setting blank (---) when you use a switch as source. Does this answer your question, as you've alread...

Re: Swopping from Spektrum to Taranis

Give the whole thing some thought. If you do decide to switch systems and to acquire a module for DSM2/DSMX, check back because there are some changes taking place with the 4in1 and I'm not sure of the latest details. Specifically, there's a v.2 which might (or might not) have significant advantages...

Re: Swopping from Spektrum to Taranis

I think when you say modules, first you mean receivers, until the last reference, which really is about modules. The R615X receiver does not have a sterling reputation for reliable reception. But you shouldn't condemn all off-brand receivers on the basis of this experience. The newer Orange receiver...

Re: Template does not setup mixes using TAER order?

Just keep in mind that there's nothing special about TAER unless you are using a Spektrum or other receiver that assigns throttle failsafe to channel 1 (as you are). I use TAER with my ERSky9x transmitters for models that are controlled by an RF module supporting DSMX/DSM2. But when I'm using the Fr...

Re: Why am I having trouble with Mixer and Mixer edit

Because fixed position flaps are preferable in most situations. When you put down flaps for landing you want to know exactly what you will get. Moreover, we usually set up flaps with a "slow" function to give a gradual transition. This is not compatible with continuously variable flaps. I recognize ...

I think you will find the following thread very helpful. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1838623-er9x-heli-450-heli-set-up-%28flybar%29 The issue is that the template built into ER9X/ERSky9x is based on AETR channel order. "Dead Space" on the sticks?!

Forget everything but what the transmitter is doing. No expo, no receiver, no servos, no quad, etc. Create a new model with just the four stick channels. What does the graphic outputs screen show (the one with the bars showing servo positions) when you move each of the sticks slowly through their fu...

"Nothing happens". Could you be a little more explicit, please. I assume you're looking at the Graphic outputs main screen and that you are saying the rudder channel shows no action whatsoever. Do you have a suitable mix on the channel? Never mind expo for now.

"Dead Space" on the sticks?!

See item #18 above.

If you are using ERSky9x, you can easily add deadband in the Hardware menu (hold left horizontal trim to the left while turning on to gain access).

Are you sure expo and dual rate won't do what you need.

ER9X help to slow down servo movement

There is no reason you would ever want to slow down the servos for a helicopter. Slowing them would make it harder to control. The only reason to slow servo action down is something like deploying flaps or landing gear at an appropriate speed. You are confusing control sensitivity with speed. What y...
