This I think is what you are referring to. Please provide the link next time. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-9x-9ch-transmitter-w-module-ia8-receiver-mode-2-afdhs-2a-system.html?___store=en_us Reprogramming requires a suitable programmer. EDIT It appears that the new transmitter with 2a protoco...

Re: Who's got time for a noob? 9XR & 9XR Pro

The 9XR uses ER9X firmware, while the 9XR Pro has a more powerful processor and uses ErSky9x. The two systems are closely related and most of what applies to one works with the other, but they are not interchangeable. For a broad understanding of how the firmware works, download the ER9X manual: htt...

Re: Newcomer to Taranis and OpenTX. How do I set up Trainer?

As I recall, the DX6i has an inverted trainer signal. I don’t remember any details, but I do recall that it is also essential to use a mono (not stereo) trainer cable and that this transmitter has often been troublesome in the slave role. It can be made to work, but it is not standard. Sorry, that’s...

Have you gone to Model Setup and chosen Master, Jack, then to Radio Setup, Trainer page. That should get you started.

What Rx should I get?

The X7 internal module is identical to the external XJT. As for logical functions, you don’t need to learn everything at once. The only really essential thing for most people in the early stages is using Special Function Override to set throttle cut, and you seem to have that. By the way, it’s impor...

What Rx should I get?

It depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Your current setup using a Spektrum module in a Taranis X7 is perfectly viable but limited to 6 channels and 1024 resolution. I’m guessing it’s a DSM2 module, so moving up to DSMX or FrSky would gain you a more robust protocol, which seems to be your m...

I found this to be very helpful:

You’re right. Setting up a stabilized receiver is NOT the place to learn about how to use a new transmitter.

On all of mine “Lock” is write protect. It does not prevent the micro card from falling out, as can be tested by pulling on it.

Or do you have a new type of adapter?

Taranis QX7 bluetooth

I remember when we were on the beta test team for the 9XR Pro in early 2014. I was helping Muchy write the manual that explained how to install and upgrade ErSky9x using Zadig. It was hard. Then Mike developed the boot loader and the problems largely went away. Zadig was reduced to a last resort, to...

For those seeking to use the new capability of setting the Safety Switch override more precisely, there’s an important caveat: if you have a module using Multiprotocol, the pulse width value you need to set is 947uS (not the expected 980uS). The reason is that the Multi module squeezes down the puls...

This isn’t a policy issue. It’s up to the individual poster to choose a style and format appropriate to the purpose. Numbered lists are sometimes very helpful but often not required. Policing is not helpful.

Many thanks Mike for this very helpful change. It solves a very specific problem that I’ve never encountered before, that of setting a pulse width for Safety Switch override accurate to 1uS to meet the needs of a particular flight controller. I would not suggest an FrSky receiver in your situation. The AR636 is a stabilized receiver. Depending on your flying skills, you probably want a stabilized receiver to replace it. You could go for the S6R, but it’s fairly complex to set up. Your least expensive but very good solution is a LemonRX S...

Receiver number issue binding S6R

I have a very early Taranis A01, one of the first batch sold by Aloft, and ran into the mysterious receiver number issue. It wasn’t until I found a 2016 post by MikeB that I realized why I couldn’t get either an S6R or an S8R to bind with it, even though they bind fine with my QX7. I tried receiver ...

Can I get a hand over here?

First thing to do is always to go to the monitor screen and see what the transmitter is putting out. This allows you to determine whether the problem is with the transmitter or somewhere else. While you’re at it, make sure that elevator stick action is not the issue. But from the description it does...

“Haven’t got any mixes.”
With ER9X, etc., you’ve always got mixes. They are what’s found on the Mixer page. Without mixes, nothing happens.
You’re thinking about traditional radios, where “mixes” are something optional that you use to do things like couple the rudder to aileron action.

Here’s a discussion of throttle cut, sticky and not.

There doesn’t seem to be any one-step way to get sticky.

Note: previous link didn’t work. This one gets you to the site; the throttle cut stuff is in OpenTX item 03.

Every channel must have a mix if it is to do anything. Otherwise it just remains at neutral, unable to move a servo or drive a speed control. The mix may have just one input (like the Aileron stick) or several, but there has to be a mix for each active channel. One channel can drive two or more serv...

The Channel Order selection simply sets the default order for new models. You can then move them around if you need to. The result will be sent to the RF module as you see it on the Mixer page. The RF module may then manipulate the order. For example, Multiprotocol, as used in the 4in1 modules and i...

It’s exactly what it says it is — the default order. Do you want the order to be picked at random when you create a new model? [emoji3] Sorry. Plugging or unplugging the module with power on can destroy it. So if your module is rattling around and breaking contact occasionally, I would assume that that’s the cause of your module failures.

MAAC has just concluded arrangements with DOT to facilitate approval in Canada in parallel with FCC certification. This should make it much easier for manufacturers. I don’t have any further details yet.
