Re: E-flite Convergence

It seems that a low voltage alarm is not helpful in AP flight as the built-in low voltage detection which causes the model to go into MR/Stability mode triggers first. But for just hovering in MR it could be useful. In principle, of course, you should never hear the alarm because you are religiously...

E-flite Convergence

40C+ holy moly!! - what is the max. current drain of this VTOL? I am putting in a low voltage alarm for sure !! Before buying yet more LiPo's I intend using my existing 2200mah 3S 20-30C packs for testing/early flights. I note that the specs. say 2200 - 3000mah 3s but what is the battery compartmen...

Re: E-flite Convergence

Strong, new batteries.

If you look at the thread on RCGroups you'll see this addressed again and again. This is a model for high C batteries in excellent condition. Some find 30C is enough but many are using 40c and more.

E-flite Convergence

All you are doing is substitute an FrSky transmitter and receiver for the usual Spektrum components. Make sure you use TAER channel order. Set limits for channels 1-6 at 80% to match Spektrum throws. Program channel 5 to give 100 (back) and -100 (forward) on the SF switch. This is stabilization mode...

E-flite Convergence

Yes it seems there are successful Taranis users out there on this VTOL model. On a basic level, I would like to know if FrSky receivers can be used with the Convergence PNP version or is it necessary to use an Orange DSMX module in the Taranis with a compatible DSMX receiver? Horizon state ANY radi...

E-flite Convergence

Hi there, Anyone successfully set-up and used their FrSky Taranis radio with this new VTOL craft ? I would be very interested to know how. Regards, John. Several on the RCGroups Convergence VTOL forum are using FrSky equipment with the PNP version. All reports I've seen are positive (at least as fa...

My guess would be that it's really a 9XR Pro. The 9XR was discontinued quite some time ago and this sounds like a relatively new purchase. I've noticed people using 9XR to mean the Pro, presumably because they don't even know there was once an earlier version.

RF-MFX720-JR Module Series Multi-Protocol Spectrum System with Taranis

Good advice. For sure not all receivers work with all modules of supposedly the same protocol. Not even all Horizon Hobby products (e.g., the E-Flite SAFE receiver doesn't work with the Spektrum DM9 module -- this is acknowledged by Horizon). And Orange of course has a chequered history of incompati...

Re: RF-MFX720-JR Module Series Multi-Protocol Spectrum System with Taranis

I think that version of OpenTX may not support the Multi protocol but more recent ones should. Anyway, no use speculating. You need to contact the OpenTX people on the firmware forum.

Please provide a link so we can see the specifications of this unit.

What version of OpenTX are you using? How have you set the protocol?

Re: RESOLVED: Right stick is throttle and it should not be...need help.

Good general principle when asking for advice: specify all components of the system, even if they don't seem related.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. Don't hesitate to ask more questions (and report your own experiences).

RESOLVED: Right stick is throttle and it should not be...need help.

Yes, that's the answer. Module assumes it's getting AETR from the transmitter and helpfully converts it to TAER if DSM protocol is being used.

Then it looks as though the transmitter is working correctly. I think the problem is almost certainly that the module is changing the channel order, thinking its dealing with Futaba type transmitter. What module are you using? If it's an Orange Switchable, just flip switch 2. If it's an Orange v1.2,...

Do you have the "new" ER9X manual? It's the best guide to all this basic stuff and shows the current menu structure, which is shared with ERSky9x. The manual is available at http://www.ER9X.com The original ERSky9x manuals are there too but show the old menu structure used when the 9XR Pro...

Forget the receiver and focus on the transmitter. Look at the graphic output screen (the one with bars) which will show you what the transmitter is putting out. Move the sticks and observe which bars move. That tells you the order. EDIT The first column of bars represents channels 1 - 4. Each bar is...

What does the Mixer screen in the transmitter show? That is what determines the channel order.

The Mixer channels must be in the order TAER.

This has nothing to do with the receiver.

That's it. Is it working correctly for you? Everything you need is on that page.

If you still have a problem, create a new model And it should be correct.

Fixed the switch arrangement and checked everything thoroughly. Reflashed Boot Loader and R220. Nothing changed.

The good news is that other than the funny button configuration in Boot Loader mode everything works properly. I can live with that.

Re: Right stick is throttle and it should not be...need help.

To expand on that point: In the Controls menu (under Radio Setup) you should have Channel Order set to TAER. This is essential for a Spektrum receiver which uses Smart Failsafe, as only Channel 1 has failsafe. Cross Trim and Throttle Reverse must be OFF. For throttle on left, Mode must be set to 2. ...

Not quite. Now it works the same in v1.7, v1.9 and v2.1 -- that is, in Boot Loader mode only, the button configuration is as described earlier: Menu is UP, Right is Down, X is Enter and Down is Exit. Up and Left don't seem to do anything. I've flashed the boot loader at different times from several ...

I did that, and even went in and swapped the SF and SH switches back to the original configuration. Nothing made any difference. Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I swapped the momentary switch to the SF position, so SH is two position toggle. I can't remember how I wired it but will check a little later and if necessary return everything to standard configuration.

Thanks for the help.

ERSKY9x Questions

What's puzzling is that everything had been normal for months until I updated to Boot Loader V2.1. You would think that if the problem were one of wrong button layout in the new version, then reverting to V1.7 would solve it. But it doesn't.

ERSKY9x Questions

Oops. For the update to R220 I used Boot Loader v1.7. That's where the buttons were mixed up. Now I've gone to V2.1 and the buttons don't work at all.

EDIT
Checked further. Buttons don't work in V1.9, are mixed up in V1.7.

No rush to sort this out as I'm on R220 and can do what I need.
