Lua variables
Are the OpenTX GVars global to the model scope or global to the radio scope? I'm looking to define a variable at the model level scope that could be read from a telemetry script allowing it to be used in more than one model but customize it self to that model. I have a FPV Hubsan and a non-FPV one. ...

Optional and configurable. More like the ability to select which page to see on start up and if that page is the Telemetry then which telemetry screen to use as default.rguptaca wrote:Hope it will be optional.

Re: OpenTX 2.1 telemetry system preview
Thanks. The Taulabs folks have a fix that will be rolled into the next stable release. I tested the latest "next" version last night and it looked good. For now I'll just turn off the S.Port telemetry from the FC. I might give the "ignore instance" a try just to see what happens.

Re: OpenTX 2.1 telemetry system preview
I got the telemetry working in Taulabs but unfortunately it flooded all of the slots and now I just get the dreaded error. Is there an easy way to delete all of the telemetry entries under the model?

Re: OpenTX 2.1 telemetry system preview
I never really messed with telemetry in 2.0 so I don't have much to unlearn ;-) I'm setting up a new Quad with TauLabs and following the instructions to have my Sparky FC feed S.Port telemetry to the X8R. If I've been reading this all correctly, after I have my Sparky setup and bound I need to go in...

Re: OpenTX 2.1 released!
Yes you can. I put 2.10 on my "B" model original Taranis no problem 2.0.17 would be the best 2.0 as its the latest (at this time) I can update the firmware of my old Taranis (not Plus) by the new Open Tx 2.1.0 ? If this is not possible which would be the last version which may be updated ?...

Re: Need some help please. X4R
Glad you cleared that up. I think the way it was stated above people would assume the center pin on the servo connector. Just to avoid anyone getting the wrong impression, this exchange does NOT mean that the X4R needs different servo connectors. It works with the usual "universal" servo c...

Re: Is there truely a problem with all the X8Rs?
In theory there could be an issue because the FrSky receivers transmit telemetry on 2.4 Ghz which could create a 1.2Ghz sub harmonic that would impact the GPS. I followed the discussion on RCGroups and I am in no way convinced by their arguments. I saw a lot of speculation and some rather suspicious...

Re: Is there truely a problem with all the X8Rs?
If you read though the whole thread they totally ignore any form of troubleshooting and refuse to try anyone's suggestions. I thought they might have had a legitimate concern but their total refusal to try changing anything to see if things improved tells me that had an agenda and were not concerned...

Re: Send telemetry to PC in real time
For an APM board you need a translator if you intend to use the onboard telemetry over the FrSky SmartPort as opposed to separate sensors like your doing now. http://diydrones.com/forum/topics/amp-to-frsky-x8r-sport-converter Ok, so here's a little progress update. I can now send Mavlink packets to ...

I know it works with 2.0.8 but it is weak and a pain to install right. Took me two tries to get it soldered in right so that it worked. Good luck.

Re: Standard serial protocol to external module
I know that, but it also does not negate the use of PPM for compatibility with other modules that are not. Which is the feature of that design I was pointing out as wanting to keep. It would be nice to keep the PPM interface for existing modules and have a way for designing better integrated modules...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods
Thanks, I was thinking bigger picture but that would work. I'd probably go with the designs on RCGroups using a ProMini since I'm not really setup for SMT assembly. I do like that one though because its more "elegant" like the OSHPark board for the DSM hack that jpikkel made and wrote up i...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods
It was a bug that is supposed to be fixed in Comanion 2.0.12, I can't confirm as of yet because I'm on a Mac and need to compile 2.0.12 and just have not had the time. Now about the Rx number in DSM mode, it seems correctly displayed and modifiable in Companion, would you double check please? Incide...

Re: Standard serial protocol to external module
Where? I'd be interested in that discussion. It just seems silly IMO to take digital data convert it to analog PPM then convert it back to digital to send it out over the RF link. Just because thats how it was always done. I'd like to see it done smart so that PPM based modules still worked properly...

Re: Standard serial protocol to external module
Gotcha MikeB, but I was thinking bigger like what Philipp said. Essentially an OpenModule standard serial protocol that would be the transfer mechanism to a DSM, Hubsan, etc module. It would also define a telemetry return standard and the module could take the SPort, Spektrum, whatever info and push...

Standard serial protocol to external module
Sorry if this has been brought up before. I think it would be interesting if a standard serial protocol were defined for connecting RF modules to the TX. It seems a waste for OpenTX to convert stuff to PPM and then have another processor convert it from PPM back to digital and then send it out via t...

I built a module based on the OSHPark board and blog by jrprikkel and can confirm it works fine on my Taranis B models with firmware 2.0.8 using both resistors as specified. The other two I built and sent off worked fine also. Either you have a problem with the connection to the external bay or some...

Re: Taranis SWR Survey
I added a connector to the internal module and it bounces around from 0 to 16 depending on position. From what I've read in various forums this is still a good reading. My assumption is the connector introduced a small jump in the losses but it does not seem bad enough to worry about.

FatShark Head Tracker
Could someone point me to what I'd need to do to use the trainer port for feeding the two FatShark head tracker outputs through as inputs sent to the RX?
I found someing on ER9X that says configure an input mix for PPM(X) where X = the desired Head Tracker channel.

You need to reverse those channels. In the mixer switch them to negative values. taranis with orange module, mode 1,PPM 22.5 @ 300 +, binds properly, nano will fly but aileron and rudder work opposite, ie push stick left ailerons to the right push rudder left nano turns right.I'm very new to rc hope...

I just built three and they all worked just fine with the DX5e module I used and my B model Taranis with the 1K resistor in the R2 spot. Aloft Hobbies has an option for the case. They sell an empty XJT module case and with a couple of mods it seems to work fine. I had to Dremel the top 2 corners on ...
