Re: eePe and Ubuntu 12.04 - Permission problems
Hope that the hall effect works for you. I saw that the magnets had come down in cost since I bought them. I agree with Kilrah. ttyS0 is an RS232 Serial port and not a USB port that your STK500 is using.. I know it is unlikely that it is wrong. Have you ensured that the configuration setup in Eepe i...

So you have tried two transmitters with both of the receivers you have and you can replicate the problem with all the combinations possible with them? One servo works without any issue as does two adding an aileron servo creates the problem and removing that servo things remain bad with the RX flash...

Yes I have swapped servos from another plane I am building. No Change. I was thinking about the rx batt. Using a 1600 nimh 6v, running six servos I think the battery may not be large enough for the load. Some servos will get upset at having anything over 5.25 Volts fed to them. Have you tried thing...

The shunt will blow quicker than than fuse because it is smaller , the fuse has a larger thermal mass to heat up. At 1A draw, the shunt dissipates 0.1R @ 1Amp = 0.1Volts 0.1V x 1 Amp = 0.1 Watts So a 1/4W , 0.1R , 1% in a 0805 package was chosen Shunt Digi-Key Part Number P100LLCT-ND I would have t...

*Off topic* - Yes it will not be long before a major incident happens with regards to FPV... Of course I removed the strap and I tested R9 on my bench, I believe it is definitely a bad part;I don't know how many mA my Ometer use to test it but I guess it isvery low... I am getting confused here. The resistor R9 is 0.9 Ohm from what has been said earlier. With most meters this would read so...

Yes Bertrand. I seem to recall a few versions back in this generation that the One and On were converted to L13 and L14 and for some reason I decided to use L13 as an OR function with version 2.05 Loaded the latest firmware this evening and the same results occurred as before until I changed L13 to ...

Nice work there Spainman
It certainly was of interest. Some of what you have done is also verified this end, although I didn't check out the +6dB setting so I will not use it. Seems like that chipset is getting around a lot.

Not sure if I like 'maybes' Mike.. :) Looking at the data sheet it does ring alarm bells, as it doesn't show any data with a load below eight Ohms. Lately the discussion has been that they aren't 8 ohms. I measured mine with my ohm meter and get a 3.80 ohm value. I'm assuming it means I have 4 ohm speakers installed if my DC meter is close enough to the the real impedance value. I have one of the speakers that Scott used along with a few of th...

Re: How to remove knobs?
No problem.
You may have also noted that there is a slot in the top of the pot spindle. That lines up with the 'bar' that is at the top of the knob hole which you should take note of when you come to refitting them.

Re: Open source speed sensor?
I would have thought that a speed sensor based around the openXvario would do the job. In fact if you put the vario sensor (or the whole lot) into a small box that is airtight apart from a tube leading into it that is pointing out of the front of the aircraft would be all you need for the vario to b...

Sometimes you forget the 'good' old times (if you have reached a certain age) when you first started in the hobby of radio control. Here is a small snippet of my memories. - We have the good old days of 27MHz Amplitude modulation with a super-regenerative receiver so only one aircraft could fly at a...

Marc - You are a bit far away and the costs of sending aerials to you is prohibitive. It is easy to build the paper clip one. You can do that without having to tear things apart from your receiver. Just use what is there now. Take off a small section of the outer covering off, which will expose some...

You can break the glue join that holds in the connector or you could just cut off the PCB antennas and make a normal 'whisker' instead. Some information here might be of use to you ----> http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=5595&p=80010#p80010 If you decide to cut off the PCB a...

They seem to be the 40cm and 60cm types, perhaps they are compensating for losses in that length of coax. You could be right Mike. The loss of the mini coax is about 1dB per foot with the wind in the right direction. I would like to try the dipoles to see how they do. Please post your results. :) S...
