Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I have just built a little low power, DIY Sbus Frsky compatible receiver to be installed inside my new Ar9x radio that I am building at the moment. The receiver worked outside of the radio, so I have proceeded to install it in the radio. It is placed beside the trainer Jack and under the backplate o...

Re: 9X (and possibly 9XR/PRO) Switch Board Design

By double Mosfet, do you mean the one I've posted the pictures on May 19th? I have the latest one I built installed in a 9x radio that I have just upgraded with an Ar9x board. This one has only one Mosfet transistor for both motherboard and RF power. There is no final design as I have been for now t...

Re: Using eepskye

Welcome to the forum..

Do you have the 9XR or the 9XR-PRO. If you have the PRO then use eepskye.
If you have the older 9XR then you waqnt to use eepe.

Here is the Er9x manual. Read it. At the end there are lots of examples..

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

Hi João, This mod is only for the "reverse polarity protection": (http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=7745). With this mod "PPM protection resistor" is good to do also: (http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=8778). Those are the current essential mods for the 9xtreme r...

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

I believe the Ar9x is already protected against reverse polarity. My reverse polarity protection circuit is also something else. I had a power switch failure on my 9XR-PRO radio and the radio would try to turn OFF, and the power to the RF module would also be gone. So I've decided to build something...

Just curious here ;) Are you going for a new 9x mainboard or for the Ar9x?

Eagle files for this board in case someone wants to build and test.. :)

I will definitely use the SO-8 Mosfets from now on..

Re: 9X (and possibly 9XR/PRO) Switch Board Design

Ok, here are some pictures. I'm surprised that this Mosfet also becomes quite hot if I charge at 1A. At 800mA I can touch the transistor with my lips and keep them there for a while.. at 1A it will get to hot to do that.. But it is still better than with the other transistor. I would like to underst...

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

Wait there a second.. Why spending $15 on that if you can spend a bit more on this?? www.ar9x.net You end up with a powerful radio with voice capability, fast processor, lots of memory, etc.. :o With Ersky9x you can even costumize the radio with some more hardware, and even increase the number of sw...

Re: ArduVoice-9x Voice Module with Arduino for the 9x Radio

I don't know what to say.. all my boards that I made work..
I am starting suspecting the SD Card adapter itself..

But you will have a better radio with the Ar9x.. It is worth it the upgrade..

Does your arduino run at 16Mhz, or do you have the 8mhz version?

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

Are you really sure the regulator is also damaged? Did you measure the voltage there?
I am asking because you said that the radio turned ON afterwards?? Or did you use the programmer power to turn it ON?

Re: 9X (and possibly 9XR/PRO) Switch Board Design

It is Mike.. it is over 6V When charging a 6 cell NiMh pack. Measured it last night. But it is not the charging current that worries me. I believe 500mA is more than enough for most NiMh batteries. I'm just a bit concerned about the radio current draw itself. With the single Mosfet design, the trans...

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

Normally when it smokes it won't turn on again.. Try flashing it again and see if the eeprom error goes. But do a read before you flash it. If the radio turns ON, you might have blown a cap only. can you please post a good picture of the mainboard before you do anything else so we can check if there...

Re: 9X (and possibly 9XR/PRO) Switch Board Design

I have tested the charging last night. It is ok until 500mA but the Mosfet starts getting a bit too warm for my taste with higher currents. Not that I will ever want to charge the radio faster than that, of course.. Will have to find our why as the datasheet says that the Mosfet can handle around 4A...

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

If you would like (and feel comfortable with) trying to repair the radio, we could give it a try.. You will probably need to do some SMD desoldering/soldering. A good start would be posting a good resolution picture of the mainboard, specially the area near the 2 voltage regulators.. Also, another p...

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

eeprom error is normal after flashing. The radio will format it..
Perhaps you plugged the battery with wrong polarity? That means instant smoke..

Re: having issues with USBASP driver

avrdude.exe: Device signature = 0x1e9702 avrdude.exe: Expected signature for ATMEGA64 is 1E 96 02 This means that your radio has an m128 processor inside, not the m64. Go to preferences in eepe and change the processor type. Don't try to flash anything at this time. Do a firmware read first to make...

Re: 9X (and possibly 9XR/PRO) Switch Board Design

Yes, but this one will need real testing as it has now only one Mosfet.. It's max ratings are around 4A, so i guess the board should be good up to 1A. These are the Mosfets the Ar9x board uses. With all this, I ended up rebuilding this radio that was just a piece of scrap :) Will replace the origina...

Re: LCD BARELY ILLUMINATES

No problem, glad to help.. Strange about the haptic affecting the backlight. But you have no haptic anyway. About learning the firmware. Yeah it is a completely different concept, but more powerful. You can do stuff that you can only dream of with other expensive systems. It is a bit confusing in th...
