Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Please report on the "Type=" value on the DiagSwitch screen/ Do the gimbals on the production unit work correctly with the "telltales" in the square boxes? Also there are 7 pots/sliders. I think only 4 of these will be showing on the display between the boxes. Which ones are they? I now need to sort...

It is for SKY/AR9X/PRO, I've just put it in for Taranis and I have it in for Horus.

Re: Wrong .bin Burnt to Taranis = screwed up Tx

Check the "Filter ADC" setting in the hardware menu. Set it to OSMP (Over SaMPle) if it is set to Single. Also in the hardware menu, you may set a deadband for the stick centres. This can improve the centering, without affecting normal operation. Note that the hardware menu is protected to avoid acc...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

The Taranis Plus has a spare analog input and ersky9x supports the use of an analog input to act as an encoder, the 3 signals being combined into a single analog value.
You could replace one of the pots with an encoder therefore.

Re: Wrong .bin Burnt to Taranis = screwed up Tx

Have you got "X9DP (Taranis Plus)" set in the preferences for the "Version to Download"?
Eepskye uses this setting when creating an EEPROM and when writing it to determin the size of file to write.

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I've posted an "A3" test version for the Horus. At startup, immediately after initialising the display, it pauses, flashing the red and blue leds 3 times, with the display set to all blue. This is to see it it is being initialised correctly, then upset by something else. When I turn the prototype on...

What bootloader is running (version?).
When you connect the USB, with the bootloader running, Do you get two drives appearing, one of size 512K and the other of size 32K?

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

And can we trust that? Imagine the SD Card goes bad while flying a model, what would the consequences be? Should be OK. Radio and model data is read into RAM and used there while flying. Data may be saved while flying, if you change a trim setting, but even if the SD card isn't working, that should...

Re: Template does not setup mixes using TAER order?

That sounds odd. You normally need to set it to a specific value, or it is set when you bind in AUTO mode. The "default" is 0. Try setting it to 7, it was 0 in the EEPROM you posted. Using 8, or higher for "Option" causes a different mode of transmission as only 7 channels are sent in a packet. Mike.

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

The MCU on the Taranis doesn't have any EEPROM on the chip, the EEPROM is a separate chip. The early prototypes had 64K!

The Horus is using the SD card rather than EEPROM. This method could be ported to the Taranis to overcome the EEPROM limitation.

Re: 9XR & Frsky XJT Telemetry

The XJT telemetry signal is inverted serial, so you will need an inverter on your radio if the telemetry is going to work at all.

Re: Unexplained reboot while un flight

The big difference is the AR9X runs from 3.3V, so when you press a trim switch, the capacitor only discharges from 3.3V to 0V instead of 5V to 0V. This is a lot less energy, so any spikes are much reduced. In addition the digital and analog ground signals are common.

PageUp is MENU.
PageDn is EXIT.
MOL is UP.
TELE is RIGHT.
RTN is DOWN.
SYS is LEFT.
I hadn't seen the button names on the actual hardware.
I'll try a few more things.

What about changing the Option value. The radio should display 4ch or 5ch etc. when you set it to 4 or 5 etc.
You probably need it set to 6 or 7.

Re: 9XR & Frsky XJT Telemetry

How did you do the mod to get the DJT telemetry working?
If you used an inverter, and modified the DJT to output the telemetry on the bottom pin of the module connector, then the XJT should work.
What firmware are you using on the 9XR?

If the SD card is getting those files, then the flashing is working OK. When pressing buttons, do you hear any beeps (volume should be set to 2 so they will be quite quiet)? I don't think the STK will work, it has a single, half-duplex signal line.
What CP2102 device do you have? I have the development kit, so that has (optional) RS232 buffers on it.

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I've posted another version (A2). I've forced the "production" version. I did notice, however, I failed to enable the clock to the timer used for the production version backlight, so this may explain why there was no backlight. If you do get something on the display, please go to the "DiagSwtch" men...

OK, I'll force the code to be the "production" version to get the backlight working. From the red/blue LEDs, I think it is otherwise working. While I do some edits, you might look on the SD card and see if you have a sub-directory off the root called "RADIO" containing files "radio.bin", "Mnames.bin...

Re: Template does not setup mixes using TAER order?

I loaded your EEPROM into eepskye and I see the protocol set to MULTI/AUTO, with the Option set to 0. When you bind, provided you have the telemetry settings correct to be able to receive data from the Multi module, these should change to the settings needed for your receiver. If they don't change, ...

It should work as is. Where you use a stick as a mix source, untick the "Include trim" box.
Then you should be able to use the trims as mix sources.

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I've posted some firmware for the Horus on the test versions thread. This is just to test if it runs on a production Horus (it is supposed to auto-detect that). The main problem will be the backlight won't come on if that doesn't work. It doesn't contain any drivers for RF modules, so you can't cont...

The (analog) ground connection to the horizontal trim board is also used as the ground for the gimbal pots, so you must not move it to digital ground or the gimbal will most likely jitter.

Re: Unexplained reboot while un flight

With the original MEGA64 processor this didn't show up, only when the MEGA128 is fitted does it become noticable. I think the threads referred to above explain reasons why this can happen. Basically, the horizontal trims use the analog ground instead of the digital ground, and when you switch a trim...

If you have a "D" receiver you can bind to the XJT (in "D" mode set by the DIP switch), then you should see the A1, A2, RSSI and TSSI boxes at the top left become filled in. This will check the connections.
Just double checking that you did click the "Start" button?

To be strictly accurate I think .php is nearly C/C++, since C came first! The sources for er9x/ersky9x (and eepe/eepskye) are here: https://github.com/MikeBland/mbtx . I've got one gimbal wired on to my Horus board and that is working OK. I've also extended the display area to look like the Taranis,...
