Re: trainer jitter
it does hide file extensions but the full file name was the first thing I checked. I noticed initially because the firmware I downloaded wasn't showing up in companion9x when I tried to flash the radio. It used to add the file extension (but called them .hex files) so I'm not sure why it stopped doi...

Re: trainer jitter
I just flashed the new firmware and tested it. Everything runs perfectly now, nice and smooth with no more stuttering, thanks for the fix. On a side note, the last two firmware versions that I've downloaded through companion9x (r122 and r145) have not had a file extension. I went ahead and downloade...

Mike,
Thanks for the update about the code. I'll test the new version once it's posted and post the results once I have time.

I also have a slight issue with the input for my trainer port, movement of the servos is rougher when the student radio is in control than it is when the master is in control. I've tried a couple different radios as student and both have the same issue so I think it is actually my sky9x board causin...

Re: Er9x and RC Simulators
How are you connecting it to the computer? Do you have programs installed to convert the ppm signal into something that can be used by the simulators?

if you're trying to get one from hobbyking you can sign up for email alerts, they'll email you when they're in stock again. You could also try getting one of the other brands from somewhere else. I've gotten both my flysky 9x radios from hobbypartz.com (same radio, different name). They usually cost...

Re: buddy box help
I ddidn't think about signal level, I've only used my radio with another 9x. Another thing you can try to see if it's outputting ppm is to try setting it up as a game controller with your computer. There are two programs (ppjoy and smartpropo plus) that let you plug in a radio to your microphone jac...

Re: buddy box help
My guess is that it will work but I don't have any experience with it. The only thing I can think of that would prevent the dynam tx from working with the th9x (with upgraded firmware) is if the dynam tx doesn't output a ppm signal from the trainer port. Hopefully someone else will know for sure.

I just used a spare 2s lipo from one of my planes. I don't know if one battery would really be better than any other since there's not a lot of current draw, pretty much anything with the correct voltage should work.

Click on the Burn menu button and then click configure. This will let you enter the Sam-Ba location. If Sam-Ba is correctly installed this should be all you need to do. You can also click on preferences to choose which firmware you want to use, then it will check for updates automatically whenever y...

I believe the ersky9x board does the same thing, it definitely turns on when something is plugged into the trainer jack even when the main switch is off. I don't know for sure if the rf module gets power or not though.

Re: Nee your guidance to set up my all around Sky9x Tx
There's another option for the USB if you don't want to cut the case. There's a pinout above the USB socket that you can plug into. I had an extra USB board from a smartieparts board that plugged right in (after switching a couple wires). Then it just feeds through into the battery compartment. I do...

Re: trainer jitter
I did manage to find it again and it turns out I was a little off on what it does. You connect your joystick to the computer and then run another usb cable from the computer into your transmitter. Software comes with the cable to assign the joystick axes and buttons to the channels for your transmit...

Re: trainer jitter
Kilrah, that's correct. When I was looking online trying to figure out how to build it I did come across a ready made cable with circuitry that you would plug your USB joystick into, and that would generate a ppm signal for the tx. It was powered through the trainer cable though, and when I went bac...

I would love to have that PPM-USB interface so I can use joy sitcks to fly (including throttle and rudder control). How much does it cost to make it and how hard it is? any diagram/program can be shared? It's actually pretty easy to do and I don't have a problem sharing the code. Total cost was $10...

Re: trainer jitter
Showmaster, The signal I generated was an 8 channel ppm signal with a 22.5 millisecond refresh rate, 300 microseconds between pulses, and a minimum pusle width of 700 microseconds and a maximum pulse width of 1700 microseconds which I believe is the same signal properties as the original firmware. I...

Re: trainer jitter
Thanks for checking into it again, I'm sure you have a big list of other things to program for the board so I appreciate you taking the time. I did try open9x and both firmwares have the same issue with the servos moving roughly with the ppm in.

Re: trainer jitter
Well.... I decided to just go ahead and make my own ppm source so I could verify if the problem was the signal that the er9x was generating or a problem with the ersky9x reading the signal. I found a joystick at a flea market, wired it up to my arduino uno board and wrote some code to generate a ppm...

Re: trainer jitter
okay, do you know of any way to send a ppm signal from the computer to the trainer jack? I'd like to figure out if it's the ersky9x radio or the er9x radio that's the problem but I don't know anyone else that I can borrow a radio from to try hooking up as a ppm in test. I did try open9x and I got th...

Re: trainer jitter
Mike,
did the trainer fix get in to the new revision? I just tried my radios and I still get rough movement if I'm using the ersky9x radio as the master and er9x as the student. If I switch them around so that the er9x is master and the ersky9x is student then it works smoothly.

Re: ERSKY9X Coding
I was looking at the ppm out on a soundcard oscilloscope and noticed that the ppm shift is reversed between er9x and ersky9x. The shift sel neg on ersky9x corresponds to shift sel pos on er9x and vice versa. I don't know if it really matters but I thought you would like to know.

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
I had to resolder a similar component (usb mount) on a different board. I had to completely redo the solder, not just heat up the pins and pads to get it to reflow, and it was really hard trying to get it done clean so that solder didn't end up bridging the gap between pins. Finally I gave up trying...

that's correct, the card that works in ersky9x is 1GB SD with Fat format, the card that works in open9x but doesn't work in ersky9x is 16GB SDHC with Fat32 formatting (I don't know if the formatting makes a difference)

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
I just tried open9x to see if I could confirm what the issue was for my radio. The audio works on open9x and the card shows ready on ersky9x so I think it's some sort of coding incompatibility with the card rather than a solder joint problem. The sound files are in a subfolder called voice and the s...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
Just to clarify, if the card is showing up as ready in the firmware but the audio doesn't work is this just a problem with the card or could it be a bad solder joint? I was under the impression that if the solder joint was bad then the card would not show up as ready. Both my cards always show up as...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
just tried the speaker voice and it wasn't working, then swapped out micro SD cards and it worked fine. The card that didn't work for me was a 16GB micro SDHC, the card that worked is a 1GB micro SD. Both cards show up as ready in the radio but audio only worked with the regular SD card.
