Try decoupling the power supply with a 10mf and a 10nf at the amplifier, that will probably work.
The low impedance output of the amplifier probably excludes pick-up between the amplifier and the speaker.

Perhaps a signal diode in the pre-amplifier stage (as used in the original Dolby systems to give a noise gate for hiss) would work, is there a published circuit diagram?

Surely a piece of foam wrapped in tape would provide the same function for practically nothing nor any effort!

It says it fits the Turnigy, and is DSM2 / DSMX , so yes. You will need to remove the existing module which has an aerial wire leaving from the back of it to the internal antennae (if its the version sold by hobbyking). You can just cut the wire if you don't intend to use the module.

An unregulated power supply will float up to a higher voltage with no load.

Hmmm... If they have Atmega128 right from the factory, these boards will likely suffer from the horizontal trims issue. Don't use the limits menu settings min and max but go to the end of the row find the three dotted lines and when over them press menu that will invert all channel operations for the individual model.

Yes analogue are as good as digital unless you're a super aerobatic ace or helicopter 3D'er and better for power consumption as well, I've never found the need for servo's so fast and strong and power consuming!
