atmega128 or atmega128L TQFP package the L is not guaranteed to run at 16MHz (but it does) to be safe go for the standard atmega128 or atmega128A, Joao's suggests that its better to use the atmega2561

Re: Display unreadable at cold weather

LCD's are sensitive to temperature the fluid tends to "stiffen" in the cold special LCD's are required that have an operating range that extends into the low temperatures. Electronics required to work at these temperatures have to be military spec'd and cost a lot more than the off the she...

Re: Zapped Taranis ?

Using a good schottky diode you get a lower voltage drop (0.3-0.5V). Correct I am not advocating a diode in the battery charging circuit (that some manufacturers supply), but in the actual supply to the transmitter, then if you plug the battery in backwards after external charging for instance noth...

Re: Zapped Taranis ?

A bit unlikely the 0.75 volts drop would be catastrophic and the supply battery voltage could be increased.
By the way what is the standard Taranis battery voltage?

Re: Zapped Taranis ?

Because we want to be able to charge the battery in the radio, so current must be able to flow the other way too :)
It wouldn't stop the battery charging if the diode was on the supply side to the tx circuitry an extra diode. :geek:
We don't have to be so economical with components.

Re: Zapped Taranis ?

Beats me why an in-line diode is not used on all the transmitters that would just prevent any damage at all, the only consequence a small voltage drop and the battery overhead which is only dropped in the regulators anyway would easily deal with that, still a crowbar system in the Taranis is a step ...

Re: 2.4 Ghz Field Strength Meter With Sound Output

Wouldn't the RSSI detector on the receiver, even if you could get it out, only give the computed signal strength as a single output with no indication of the spectrum spread of the 2.4, surely that would be the point to show how the signals are distributed over the band? Hopping vs DSM2 etc how DSM2...

Re: 2.4 Ghz Field Strength Meter With Sound Output

I was going to recommend wi-spy which used to cost about £50-60 but now I see the price has gone up to over £200+. I bought one a couple of years ago it displays the spectrum on a PC, listening to the signal would probably be nothing but a hiss or buzz, not terribly useful. I could probably loan you...

Re: XPS module protocol

It only takes 4 video transmitters to completely wipe out the 2.4Ghz band so that nothing connects or flys. Can't argue with that, but in 2008 you didn't hop sufficiently, now you do, but by denying the problem at the time you made customers who had problems outraged! You still have that legacy of ...

You must do the pcb cuts on the right side although there are no instructions this is taken as implied.
If you read over our discussion this was brought up by skylark and I affirmed that this must be done both sides.

And, or, if mixes
