thanks for your tip Mike. I had quickly soldered a wire together and done it the wrong way round in haste. (I had the wires wrapped under tape so it was not obvious).
Take that cynicism!

the left hand green light flashes on the "sport ugprade" programme, but not the right hand light.

This is different computer so the com port is different.

What parts are you actually supposed to have to upgrade the vario?
I have the fuc-3 but now it seems you need something else as well.
