Did rangetest and rssi goes low at 3m and critical at between that and about 5m (varies)

That's wierd it powers my uhf module and fpv glasses just fine. A joystick would require less power.

Tested bootloader, works great so far. Discovered one slight issue when in usb mode on bootloader. Do not unplug then turn off TX before usb has unmounted properly. TX will stay in an on state. I have not opened the unit yet as this would remove any right to a warranty replacement.

Well I have had a response from FrSky about the faulty Taranis. Apparently you are not supposed to use the balance lead on Lipo's for power. I formatted card and loaded default files on, also tried with and without card.
Tested battery and its fine.
Also tried trainer cable as some radios turn on when trainer cable is attached.
Guess its just a bit of bad luck.
