Re: Custom Spray
Man, Scott, I love this one. It came out great! Especially the top half, where the pain got 'diluted'. At the bottom right it's still concentrate. Like you have the top half is how I wanted my radio to look like.

Re: WARNING: Known problematic USBASP
I have 4 programmer that I flashed with the main.hex. I have a virgin 128 chip installed and non of these programmer talks to it. I bought a fifth programmer that arrived today. I hooked it up to the chip and it talks to it. I get the sck error and the 'Device signature' error (even tho I have set -...

Re: Usbasp Cloner
I have five programmers and one mcu128 that doesn't want to be programmed. :D I'm trying to cover all the bases, including that I programmed the programmer wrong or that the grand mother of the president has constipation or what ever causes the chip not to be programmed. If in the process I convert ...

Re: Usbasp Cloner
Let's see if I get it right. I load the file in your usbasp_cloner.zip into the 'main' programmer with Arduino 1.x. I then solder a buzzer (can I use the one I took out of the transmitter?) and a resistor as shown in the pics above. What do I do then with the board.txt?

I hope it's not too late, I haven't been on the board for a few days, but I'm interested in more info!

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB
Guys, unfortunately people don't read the threads completely and keep buying the voice module from emartee. we know that is not good.. So, my suggestion is to remove the links for the board and if people want that board we could put instead a link to Thomas9x's site.. I think it's him that has some...

Re: Getting rid of the Hobby King usbasp SCK error
No taker on the fuse question in the previous page? I suspect that my m128 problem stem from the programmer. I suspect that I didn't flash it correctly. The only thing would be the fuses. I don't know if I give the command that Romolo posted before or after I flash. I know that when we flash the m12...
Re: Er9x128
The fuses are posted here http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 545#p36367

Re: 9XR Firmware burn failed
Partial success! I flashed the spare chip that I have, the one that is not installed in the radio! The external oscillator did the trick. I'm not even sure what firmware is on the programmer that I used. I think it's still the original one. I'm not sure that the flashed mcu will work once installed ...
Re: Er9x128
I soldered quite a few SMD resistors with no problem in the various mods I made so far and the only problem that I have is with the main chip not talking to me and not with the resistors.
Re: Er9x128
Does that means 'yes, it can be soldered there'?
Re: Er9x128
You appear to have connections for both the voice module and the rotary encoder. Both of these connect to signals that are part of the LCD outputs. Double (triple) check that these connections are not shorting out anywhere. Mike. I know it's kind of off topic but can you solder the wires for the en...

Re: Getting rid of the Hobby King usbasp SCK error
Here is the hex http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1363#p29615 for the fuses: avrdude -c usbasp -p atmega8 -P usb -u -U hfuse:w:0xc9:m -U lfuse:w:0xef:m Do I have to set the fuses before I flash the main.hex or can I flash without the above command? And if yes, do I have to rese...

It looks for a directory http://85.18.253.250/voices/open9x-stock128/ but that directory doesn't exist only http://85.18.253.250/voices/open9x-stock/ exists
Re: Er9x128
Those m128's are a pain to start as far as I know.. My first one didn't want to work as well with more or less the same errors as yours.. I was using an mySmartUSB Light programmer.. Nothing that I would do made it work.. Just before replacing the chip took it to a friends house and used his Hobbyk...
Re: Er9x128
This is what is says. As you can see it reads with no errors. Just the chip report as the wrong chip but it doesn't say which chip type is reporting back. I have it, obviously, set to Atmega128. I tried to set it to all the options in the list, from ATtiny13A to ATmega128 and all report as 'incorrec...
Re: Er9x128
Now that I get at least one programmer to talk to the chip, sort of talk, I tried it with eXtreme Burner. It reads the eeprom and the flash but first reports that it didn't find the Atmega 128 chip and if I want to continue. I said yes since reading, I figure, can not harm the chip. I then tried to ...
Re: Er9x128
The signature error is being caused by too high clock speed from the programmer. Will it help if I hook up an external oscillator? I have one coming in the mail. You have the error"cannot set sck speed". Look for rperkins on this board, he is selling working usbasps, and somewhere has dir...

Re: 9XR Firmware burn failed
Thanks, Chris, for the data sheet. I looked it up and it shows 4 pins. They are numbered 1, 7, 8 and 14 in the picture so that's what I will go with since it follows the numbering convention of all the 2x7 pin chips.
Re: Er9x128
I had done the '-B 100' and that's when I got the 'program ready: target doesn't answer' error. EDIT: After thinking about it I think I may have done 'B' and not '-B'. So I tried it again. I have four USBASP's. Three flashed with the main.hex and one not. Of the three flashed two have the 100ohm arr...

Re: 9XR Firmware burn failed
Thanks, guys. I'll look into it and see if I can recover (nee save) my chip. BTW, ChrisC81, you did all this while the chip was installed in the radio, correct? You didn't have to disconnect the pin 24 from the internal crystal (if I understood correctly there is one connected there), correct? EDIT:...

OK, I'll google some more for 'clock signal'. The above is all I found so far looking for 'oscillator for atmega'
BTW, will it work in this case?

I looked at both the Compnaion9x and the eXtreme Burner and couldn't fine where to set the speed to 1Mhz. Do you set it with a command line? Can I put command lines in either of these programs?

Re: 9XR Firmware burn failed
So i decided to try it with an external clock source and pulled the mainboard out of the 9xr. I used a 8 Mhz Oscillator. With this Oscillator i was able to flash the Open9x Firmware using companion9x without problems :) :) :) :) Chris I have the same problem with the 'target don't answer' error. Ma...
Re: Er9x128
I see! I looked at the schematic and it said MOIS & MISO on 12 and 13 so that's what I did. I'll change it to pins 2 and 3. Is pin 2 the MOSI and 3 the MISO? EDIT: I think I found out that MOSI is 2 and therefore MISO is 3 EDIT 2: Changed the wires to pin MOSI 2 and MISO 3 and I still get eXtrem...
Re: Er9x128
I haven't done anything yet. I just bought it and hooked it up. I'm trying to read first before I do any burning, just to see if it communicates.mhotar wrote:If you already set the fuses by eepe/companion ,you will need external oscillator attached to the chip to allow it to communicate.
Re: Er9x128
Kilrah, are you talking about the lines that go into the programmer or the lines hooked up to the chip? On the programmer, I hooked the lines as it says on the mask on the programmer. Is that wrong? EDIT: I looked in the wiki and couldn't find any picture on this programmers hookup. Only for the pro...
Re: Er9x128
I still can't get the companion to talk to the chip. I didn't remove the chip, yet, form the board because I'm not 100% sure it's fried. When I bought the chips, I bought two. I hooked up the second one as shown in the picture and I still get the 'target doesn't answer' error. Somehow I suspect it's...

Thanks for all the input, guys. Glad I've asked. Obviously I have no theoretical idea, or knowladge on how antenna works, which is why I've asked. The new u.fl connector will go on the board today!
