FrSky Gas Suite on OpenTX 2.3.11 and Taranis X9D+

Hi guys, I have been thinking about getting the FrSky Gas Suite. My Tx and OS are as in the subject of the thread. Receiver is a RX8R Pro backed up with a XM+. I have been reading a bit on forums about the Gas Suite but there seems to be a general lack of information and people's reports with this u...

The radio should not reboot at any time, no matter what you do, except turning of the power switch :) In my opinion there is a bug somewhere that needs fixing :) ? Not sure what you mean here. There is no reboot going on nor a bug anywhere. Please read post no. 3 and 4. :D By the way I am not bothe...

Re: Sudden "throttle not idle" warning while radio was ON

Thanks Kilrah for the quick reply. Well, I am testing this out as I am writing, and indeed, it seems that something has changed with respect to the "reset flight" function with OpenTX 2.2.4 -- or even earlier versions, as I don't know coming from the old 2.1.9. I'll explain what I had done...

Sudden "throttle not idle" warning while radio was ON

Taranis X9D Plus (no SE), OpenTX 2.2.4. Two RX8R Pro's with each one a XM Plus in redundance. This is the first time I ever had such a problem. I was ready to take off, I gave a quick throttle up from zero to WOT, and I got the "throttle not idle" warning on the display, as if the radio ha...

High speed mode for digital servos?

I was about to try the HS mode on a D8R-II Plus for digital servos, and I stumbled upon this (see second post): https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1763500-RX-High-Speed-Mode What I find strange is that that is the only post I have found about the topic. If I google HS mode, all I find is...

Re: Dual receiver setup and sensors

I thought I'd report back. Unfortunately it turns out that the above configuration (two D8R-II Plus, one binded to the Taranis' internal XJT and the other one binded to an external DJT put in the moduel bay) doesn't work well: I get reduced range and telemetry is constantly lost and recovered once a...

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

I didn't know such thing existed, but please keep up posted. :) Speaking of the FLVSS, I see it comes branded as "LiPo" sensor, and I am wondering whether it's equipped with some sort of buzzer that will beep automatically below a certain voltage. I ask this because I would rather use it w...

Indeed it would be a great selling point.
Well then, I guess it's time to upgrade to the X8R and get a FLVSS.

Thanks!

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

That's good to know, thanks. Unfortunately I'm still using the old D series Rx on all my planes, so I don't have SmartPort. I guess it's time for an upgrade to the X series sooner or later. In the meantime, would one of these: https://www.amazon.com/VSKEY-Anti-interference-Telephones-Equipment-Appli...

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

I understand that but my question was rather whether the kill switch filtering can work also against the noise being passed from the CDI back to the battery, not only from CDI to Rx. I'm not even sure this is physically possible.

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

I was wondering: what Kilrah said about the switch not being insulated anymore seems to me to imply that the noise doesn't only come from the CDI module to the kill switch, but also from the switch to the battery, as in: Wiring.jpg Because if this is the case, then forget about voltage sensors and s...

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

Ah, right... I couldn't think about that.

Is a reduced range the only potential downside of this scenario? Or am I risking to damage the Rx or other components?

Or... I would have to find another solution to check the voltage of the ignition battery, but at this point I wouldn't see how.

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

I thought I'd report about this, in case anyone is interested. It turns out that the kill switch is indeed insulated, so I had to connect both wires from the sensors to the Rx (and of course from sensor to battery) to get the reading. This regardless if the kill switch is actually feeded (thus ON) o...

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

I do have a couple of cheapo voltage sensors like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Tester ... B011SE9DB8

I know it's probably not 100% accurate... but not too far off either, as per checked with my charger.

I don't have the equipment to do so...

In the case the kill switch WAS indeed isolated, what should I expect if I wire up the system like that? Just not to work, or am I going to fry something?

Re: How to connect FrSky Battery Voltage Sensor (FBVS-01)

In my opinion, yes. Unless the kill switch is somehow isolated. But that could be measured. Is this "measurement" something that a noob in electronics like me can do? BTW the kill switch is the ever popular one from RcExl: https://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/showatt.php?attachmentid=11367...

Ha... I guess you're right, now that I think about how I deleted it.

I'll try out, but I am pretty sure it is going to work. Thanks as always.

Still, there seems to be no way to stop the Taranis autodetecting A2, after manually deleting it. Not that it bothers me much...

Re: A1 and A2 sensor ports showing values increasing to infinite

The A2 sensor (empty) keeps creating an entry in the telemetry screen each time it is autodetected by the Taranis. I use only one telemetry screen which has two entries: RSSI and A1 (which are the only things I am using). Well, every time an A2 is detected (as I said there is nothing connected), a t...

A1 and A2 sensor ports showing values increasing to infinite

On a D8R-II Plus, if there is nothing connected to either A1 and A2 ports, the Taranis still auto detects "sensors" in those ports. I have to manually delete them after each autodetection. Not only this, but the values displayed in those dummy sensors basically starts from numbers like 6.0...

Re: Dual receiver setup and sensors

Thanks Kilrah, as always. Yes the cool thing of this configuration is that I also get 8 extra channels "for free", which I didn't really need actually, as 8 were enough for the plane. My original motive for going "dual Rx", indeed, was to reduce the Amps load on the Rx. I was fea...

Re: Dual receiver setup and sensors

I find no mention of it in the manual. I guess it is a feature available only on more recent receivers. Do you guys think just using both D8R-II+ simultaneously, without worrying about telemetry, can cause some issue in the long run, like interferences or some "information load up" in the ...
