Did you clean those connections with isopropyl alcohol after doing that? Using (de)solder braid typically still leaves a hard layer of rosin on the surface which must be washed off in this case.Suncoaster wrote: so I cleaned them up using solder braid so they are now bright and shiny.

So the simple question would be would this fix a 9X that is broken from reverse polarity? Others may disagree, but unfortunately I think that is one of those "How long is a piece of string?" questions. If we could guarantee what happens when you apply power in a reverse-polarised fashion ...
