T-shirts
I just had my teespring campaign for deviationTx t-shirts reach enough sales to be printed. You can see those at https://teespring.com/deviationtx-support It occurred to me that the OpenTx community might also be interested in t-shirts showing that they use/support OpenTx. If so, I'd be more than ha...

Re: Quick Bind switch?
The latest WLToys quads (v202-v222) have gone to a different receiver and protocol, reportedly so they can get a 6-axis gyro. I vaguely recall seeing a hardware module to talk to one or more of them (or maybe it was an htjoys 2??), but can't seem to find it now.

Re: Quick Bind switch?
+Kilrah - that was my impression from looking at the code, but I'm not familiar enough with it to have been sure. This should give the deviationTx software a lot more flexibilty. That this requires a beefier CPU also makes some interesting things possible. The Arduino Due has the same Cortex M3 in i...

Re: Quick Bind switch?
If you read this thread, then it should be apparent that deviationTx can trigger a bind from software, whereas apparently the T9X hardware can't do that. They also use the FlySky transmitters (ripped from an RTF controller, bought on ebay, etc. - like a DSM2 module for the T9X) for both the FlySky a...

Re: Quick Bind switch?
The bind procedure for my Y911 and v939 is to plug in the battery, the onboard LED starts blinking quickly. Turn on the transmitter holding the bind button, the transmitter switches to a slow blink, then turn the transmitter off and back on, and the led goes solid, and you can (now) control the 'cop...

Quick Bind switch?
Those of us using the later (but not latest :-) ) WLToys micro ' copters have to deal with them needing to rebind every battery. Worse yet, you (or at least I - if others don't, I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong) have to power the controller twice: once with the bind button held to get the 'copt...

WLToys V939 with "flip" switch
This has three flight modes (similar to the RTF Tx, but more usable) and uses the Gear switch as a "flip" switch: Turn on the Gear switch, and apply full cyclic in a direction to trigger a flip in that direction. This works in all three flight modes. The "High" flight mode dials ...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
The second display came out of my spare parts bin. I don't remember where it came from before that. Trying it was a desperation move that happened to play out well. The original display appears to still be working, and the new one has some scratches on it, but I don't feel up to swapping them back a...

Fixed!
Ok, it's now fixed. The problem was that the patch I did to route around the missing pad didn't actually get 3.3 to the display. While it managed to make the output from the regulator correct, the output from the .1µF capacitor was still 0. I resoldered that end of the patch, and it now works. One o...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
The clamps should be pushed into the connector and NOT down as you stated.. If you gently tug on the ribbon cable does it stay in place? My fault for being ambiguous. When I said "down", I meant "down into the connector". When I now tug (gently) on the connector, it doesn't move...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
Your new picture shows me that your cable is seated now correctly, but your connector side clamps are still open. You need to push fully in both clamps evenly at the same time ! Yes, getting told three times "seat the cable properly" after I'd already said I'd done that is annoying. Howev...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
Thanks for all the suggestion, but as I as I said, I got the display cable seated after promix suggested doing so, before adding the connection broken by my accidentaly removing the pad - after all, that's the easier fix. This is what it looks like now: 2013-02-11_04-34-05_528.jpg It's still not wor...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
+ReSt, thanks for the pictures. They do indeed confirm that the power on the voltage regulators is (now) correct. However, the LCD display is still wonky. Possibly it's not getting enough power, and I'd like to check that, but I'm a bit confused. If I'm reading them right, the two schematics show di...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
Thank you all for the help. In the order they appeared: The display connector simply would not seat any further. I tried replacing the display element completely. That seated. That didn't fix the problem. I'm using open9x. There is no setting for brightness. Adjusting contrast just makes things wors...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
While I appreciate the extra instructions, and will take them to heart, I was already pretty sure it was an induced error. There's a reason I was trying to find a way to avoid soldering on the CPU! Anyway, I'm still not positive about what I need to fix. At this point, the radio mostly works. The LC...

Re: Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
As requested, I've attached a picture. The SP board is 2.2. I figured since that was out and it was failing, it wouldn't matter, but I went ahead and put it back so I could get the backlight back. Ok, I think I can see the problem now. First, when you say "right" and "left", you'...

Help diagnosing bricked T9X?
Well, I managed to brick my transmitter adding the Haptic & Speaker mods. Or putting the thing back together afterwards. I was installing this version , because I saw it recommended for someone who was leery of trying to solder to the CPU pin (which describes me perfectly). Actually, I was hopin...

Re: DSM protpcol
The 9x speaks serial indeed, but it only has to send channel values and a couple of bits to enable range check, DSM2/DSMX mode and binding mode though, as the rest is done by a chip in the Spektrum module. The Devo guys have to talk SPI direct to the transceiver chip, and do everything themselves (...

9x software in other hardware
While the 9x with open9x is an incredible radio, it's still got the hardware of a $50 chinese clone. I ran into a forum post that detailed building a board that would 1) run the 9x software, and 2) fit inside a wltoys v911 controller. (I can't seem to find this again. Pointers would be greatly appre...

Bluetooth module?
I noticed that someone had developed an IR module for use with the 9x. The manufacturers are starting to switch their more upscale toys to Bluetooth, controlled by Android or iOS apps. While a lot of interesting stuff can be done with those, most of them would be improved by having a real controller...

Re: Is this possible?
No. One word LATENCY I had the same thought as kaos (but couldn't find the other two threads), and am not convinced that latency is an insurmountable problem. Mostly because what's causing me to think about this is the large number bt-controlled RC toys on the market. If latency were a real issue, ...

Easy switch?
The new WL v922 RTF transmitter has an "easy" switch for inverted flight. Basically, it inverts the stick controls so you don't have to learn to think inverted. I'm not sure it's actually a good idea (I mean, is inverted really that much worse than nose in?), but trying it on the 9x seems ...

Re: Guided model configuration
Ok, I just built the latest version, and I can see what looks like channel assignment buttons (non-functional), *and* the "channel style" selector. I had thought "channel style" *was* the assignment (i.e. - futaba uses one set, open9x et. al. uses another, and JR uses a third). T...

1) apart helis better to take the one set in radio general settings. Other ways why to have it there ? Re: Guided model configuration
Nice work. Much more usable than what I had in mind. Couple of tweaks I think would help (sorry if these are already on your todo list): 1) The channel style selector should probably be on all craft. 2) A JR/Spektrum channel style (T A E R) for people using DSM modules to fly their micros. 3) Make t...

Romolo, are you working on something like that? I had pictured something a little bit simpler (changing dialogues as you pick things), but I'm a notoriously bad UI designer.
