Re: Update OTx 2.3.13 to 2.3.15 - The SD Card?

Yes, I agree with that, in part. Copying the language .wav files takes quite a long time and I only need the en versions so that is all I have on the earlier version SD card. The difference that comes then, is that the new SD card version has only 60 items but I have 546 sounds on the old version be...

Update OTx 2.3.13 to 2.3.15 - The SD Card?

I updated from OTx 2.313 to 2.3.15 and downloaded the SD card for the later version. Why do I need to copy this to my Tx SD card other than to get the "opentx.sdcard.version" file? If I just copy the 2.3.15 SD card contents to the Tx I loose many files and folders. The only other differenc...

Re: Issue binding properly with R-X4R and X9D+

Sorted by updating my Taranis to OTx 2.3.13 including the SD card data. Despite the R-X4R instructions indicating that anything above OTx 2.2 was OK the receiver would not operate wit 2.2.4 on the Taranis. With 2.3.13 the bind was immediate and no further action was needed, PWM output from the servo...

Issue binding properly with R-X4R and X9D+

I have been running my Taranis X9D+ on OTx v 2.2.4 for some time in the belief that updating to 2.3.xx would make all my V8 receivers redundant and that I would have to rebind all my models. I'm told this is incorrect and that in fact I need to update to OTx v 2.3.xx to get Ch 1-4 (PWM) on the R-X4R...

Re: Dual redundancy setup HELP needed

Well, I've got the answers I needed on RGC but thanks for your advice Kilrah. In my jet I have the S8R set up to be able to provide the stabilisation function. Having flown the jet without using it (a must apparently on first flights because the responses need setting once the plane is known to fly ...

Re: Dual redundancy setup HELP needed

It's not really clear what you want and what you have, hence the lack of answers. You mention a powerbox but don't mention which. SBUS can be Y-ed. For a jet with many servos I would not play with converters and stuff though, but use a servo / power hub like FrSky's redundancy box or the Powerbox e...

Re: Dual redundancy setup HELP needed

I had hoped for some help here. Maybe I posted in the wrong section or forum even?? So, I think I'm stuffed (not because of no response so far :-) )unless I change some servos to SBus capable . . . . or did something else (🤔 ?) I have 2 models with all standard servos and I need more than 8 channels...

Dual redundancy setup HELP needed

I'm running OTx v2.2.4 on my X9D+ with XJT_EU_170317 protocol on my RF module. I'm now wanting to fly my Xcalibur jet which is currently set up with just an S8R receiver. I have flown it twice (before lockdown) and it is very smooth and easy to fly but I'm now feeling I should employ dual redundancy...

Re: FrSky Enhanced Receiver Antenna

well, it looks a bit better than the other antennas, right? But were you having that low RSSI that close to the plane??? I don't really like the placement of your horizontal antenna. It looks like it is quite close and parallel to the power cables? I think you might have to repeat that test at your...

Re: FrSky Enhanced Receiver Antenna

Yes, inside the fuselage which is all glass fibre. The canopy fits over and is all glass fibre. Second testing with enhanced antennas done by mistake without fitting the canopy but I think that makes little difference. The "enhancement" is nothing more than 25mm of brass tube over the ante...

Re: FrSky Enhanced Receiver Antenna

I just decided to give it a try so bought some from T9. They did not turn out quite as I expected as the ends of the antennas did not show up in the T9 picture. This is what they look like: 20201124_132909_001.jpg I thought it was worth it to try these as I was a little concerned with low RSSI from ...

FrSky Enhanced Receiver Antenna

I have noticed that these are available and wonder how much they improve reception, especially as I'm now (when we are released from lockdown) flying an Xcalibur jet.

Also, these antennae are available in differing lengths. Can I use 2 different length antennae on 1 receiver (S8R)??

Re: X9D (non plus) and V8FR-II

You need to look at the outputs from your transmitter to determine where the fault was. Is it the transmitter output? Is it a faulty servo? Is it low power in the Rx battery? Can you reproduce the fault on the bench? . . . . and yes, I think 2.x.x XJT firmware is not compatible with OTx 2.2.4 etc. e...

Problem solved when I found the Manual for OpenTx 2.2.

It is: opentx-x9d+-2.2.4.bin

The version of Companion seems to be: "Opentx-taranisplus-timer3-lua-en"

.... according to the download dialogue box.

My brain is frazzled so I hope for a bit of advice on this subject. I am using a Taranis X9D+ running OpenTx 2.1.9 with applicable Companion for Windows. Thanks for the responses.

I am using the Taranis X9D as per my OP. It is running OpenTx 2.1.9 which I think is all the info needed for finding compatible .eepe files

I do not intend to update my OpenTx to a later version, seems unnecessary - it ain't broke :-)

Shorten V8R7-II antennas?

I want to use a FrSky V8R7-II Rx in my mouldie glider. It has 150mm overall length antennas which become inconvenient in the limited space of the nose.

Can I shorten them to nearer 50 - 75mm o/a length whilst maintaining the 32mm exposed length at the ends?

Thanks, Jerry

Thanks for the considerations folks. I have now concluded that this is an issue of mismatched firmwares in Tx or Rx. One factor has come to my attention.

The Tx is set up to bind with the X8R in Mode 1 - D8. (NOT D16 - Mode 5) This should be a Telemetry mode but does OpenTx 2.1.9 recognise it properly?
