I should clarify that I have replaced the regulator with a low drop out type. Rob is right - with the stock regulator it could be a bit dicey.

Re: Minimum 9x operating voltage
I don't think there's anything unsafe about running 2S LiFe. I've been doing it for six months with no issues. Even when the pack gets down to 6.0V, which means it has little capacity left, it's still fine. I set the low battery alarm at 6.2V.

Re: LiFe Battery Pack
By the way, I'm using two A123 M1 2300mAh LiFe cells with a LDO regulator in my 9x. That would be the definitive best choice if the stock 5V linear regulator is a LDO one. Is this the case or did you changed it ? If it isn't LDO, could we insert and additional LDO regulator in parallel with the ori...

Re: weak buzzer, now no sound
Here;s a simple one that can run direct from the battery - no regulator needed. If the "dead bug" technique is used, it can be glued right on the back of the speaker. Plenty of audio and good sound.

. . . I'll look into adding some more alarms, are there some specific ones you are looking for? I need to plan how I'm going to do the alarms. Mike. YES!! The most useful telemetry alarm I could want would be on your computed battery capacity (mAh) and displayed in large characters. As it is, frequ...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area
If the main issue is the current requirement for the audio amp, it would seem the best solution would be to simply change out the audio amp to one that can run directly from the battery. The LM386N-4 can run Vcc from 5V to 18V with a quiescent current of only 4 mA and will drive 8-32 Ohm speakers. I...

Re: How to power a dvm with the source voltage it's reading?
I doubt that this would work with LED meters - I assumed LCD. I used it with panel meters that used less than 1 mA. A small audio transformer could be used but you still need isolation between multiple meters.

A Better FrSky Divider
I’m a bit surprised that the issue of divider values keeps coming up since small, multi-turn trim pots are available on eBay for less than a buck. This allows calibration, for best accuracy, of the whole telemetry system, which includes a number of components and firmware conversions, with one simpl...

Re: LiFe Battery Pack
ShowMaster, Here's a simple CCCV xmtr charger/maintainer that i built to keep up the packs. The fixed resistor sets the current and the pot sets the float voltage. Other voltages and currents are easily set up. I used a small meter to monitor output current but certainly isn't necessary. When curren...

MikeB's Gas Gauge
MikeB, Thanks so much for giving us the ability to measure current on FrSky A1 or A2 telemetry and even more so for giving us the time-integral (battery capacity used), which is really what most (I think) of us want. Speaking for myself, I’m not so much interested in the current itself, but the “gas...

HOORAY for notes! Many, many thanks erraz. Now, I don't have to rely on my lousy memory. Even with the glitch mentioned by Joao it's a big step forward. I noticed another minor glitch in the EEPROM Data. The byte data per model has slipped down a notch compared with the numbers shown in the model se...

I also exchanged those two switches for the same reason. To keep epee happy, just move the "hot" wire as well. The two ground wires are interchangable. Simple.

Re: Audio Work - Piezo Driver Updates
While awaiting the arrival of the above mentioned speakers, I noticed that the sound exit grill on the front of the 9x actually had quite small holes instead of the slots that first appeared to be open. This would cause an undesired amount of acoustic loading on the speaker cone thereby reducing its...

Re: Audio Work - Piezo Driver Updates
With square wave drive average current would be half but compare to an 8 Ohm load. It still needs a buffer/amp but the point is battery current will be a lot less than an 8 Ohm unit.

Re: Audio Work - Piezo Driver Updates
What is your concern about the magnet? All dynamic speakers have them.
The higher impedance will reduce current requirements and drive easier from low power sources.
Generally, the larger the diameter the better the low frequency response with more natural voice rendition.

Re: Audio Work - Piezo Driver Updates
Rob, What is the purpose of the 4.7uF cap in series with your piezo speaker mod? According to the schematic of the main board there is already a 10uF series cap from the MPU pin to the "buzzer" line. Regarding speaker size, I suggest using the largest size that will fit in the interest of ...

Re: 9X Radio
Rob,
Since you were so successful at prodding your friend Boris at R2 Hobbies to carry replacement LCDs, I wonder if you might consider doing the same about a 9x without any RF components - module, receiver or antenna. I bet he could sell a slew of them at around $30 or so. Just a thought.

Max Size of .eepe Files
Is there a way to determine the maximum number of models and/or number of mixes per model that can be put into a single EEPROM file? It sure would be nice if the comments feature on the mix pages in eepe were fully functional. Yes, you can enter a comment for each mix but unfortunately, they don't seem to be saved with the file. On some of the more complex mixes, I often find that I have to rethink the logic to understand what I ...
